Hello everyone, nice to meet yous!

I'm Phil, 28, from the Midlands of the surprisingly warm right now UK.

I first got into the wargaming hobby via a friend of mine at primary school back in the early 90s. He had Warhammer and 40K and I got really into it in my early teen years. Had a reasonable Wood Elf army and a slightly smaller Ultramarines contingent. Then, in 1999, my hobbying suddenly stopped (for a number of reasons - money, parents dislike of the hobby etc) but I've recently in the last 12 months gotten back into it.

There's been quire a lot of changes since I last played anything, so I'm kind of coming back to 40K with fresh eyes. When I stopped playing Dark Eldar were brand new, and the new version of 40K had just been released. I remember pre-ordering it and getting a cool space marine dog tag! I wonder where that went... anyway I'm pretty sure the Tau and Necrons at least weren't around last time I played. So, with that in mind, I decided to collect one of those two armies.

I chose the Tau. Mainly, to be honest, for the looks. I love the mecha-anime style of the Crisis Battlesuits and stealth teams. The ships are kind of funky looking. The Fire Warriors have neat, tidy armour. It was tempting to go Necron what with the relaunch of them, but Tau had more appeal to me. I don't expect to win many games under the current Tau codex, but we'll see what the future holds.

I've currently got myself a Tau Battle Force which I'm working my way through constructing, as well as an additional battle suit, a piranha and an Ethereal. I doubt the Ethereal will ever see the battlefield, though!

I've also got a small Warmachine Khador army which I still haven't actually had a chance to play with yet. Hard to find Warmachine players!

Anyways, nice to meetchy'alls and I hope to see you around on the board

Welcome to Dakka, Phil!

Tau, eh? That would have been my first choice three years ago, had I not noticed the Necrons or CSM. Plus, now I have some friends of mine I pulled into the hobby, one of whom plays Tau.
