Defending Guardian Defender

Hi, I'm completely new to this forum. While I did enjoy playing and painting some warhammer 40k games back about 10 years ago, I never really got too much into the game. My wife recently got me some paints and a box of SM terminators, but I'm obviously returning those (gosh woman, I play Eldar!).

So, I've spent the past few days reading about warhammer in general, and I stumbled upon this site and I've gained so much more information from it, so I decided to register. I need advice on what to do with my army and how to proceed, since I found out that apparently there are monthly 500 point tournaments in my area, and a few bigger ones over the year. My initial goal will be to get a semi-competitive army for those!

I just dug up all my old stuff (god, I sucked at painting when I was 14-15), and turns out I actually have a decent number of pieces. But after reading some of the list suggestions, I don't think I can make up a respectable 500 point force without adding anything to it at the moment.

Here's the stuff I have:

1 Farseer
2 Warlocks

6 Howling Banshees

6 Rangers
16 Guardians

3 Guardian Jet Bikes (these ones are broken-ish)

3 Dark Reapers

1 Falcon (this one is in kinda bad shape)

I guess the first items I should be buying is a weapons platform to accompany my guardians or something like that.

Does anyone have a tip on how to get stuff unglued? Back when I did this, I actually glued the bases for the jetbikes and the falcon into the little hole you're meant to stick them in, then of course the pin broke and is now stuck in there. I'm not quite sure how to get it loose so I can remount this thing.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to contributing to this site.

Welcome to Dakka!

Is it superglue or model cement? Superglue I've found comes apart more easily once the model has been in the freezer for a bit. Careful to snap at the seam and not so much pressure on the plastic, it can break if your crank on it too hard.

If it is model cement, razor saw or very very carefully cut apart w/ a hobby knife.

Those work for me. Mileage may vary, opinions differ, etc.
