There is no doubting the existence of Messianic figures during the time of Christ, and there are said to be several prophets that claimed the title.

Whether there ever existed the incarnation of a Trinitarian deity in flesh form is quite debatable, whether there existed a figure named Jesus that claimed to be divine rather less so.

That statement serves no purpose other than to be offensive.

But anyway, @SpetsNatz599, welcome to Dakka!

The Emperor is a Jesus-like figure, he's regularly depicted with a halo and general saintly artwork. His miraclous long life and leading humanity into enlightenment, followed by his 'death' and entombment on the golden throne isn't totally unlike Jesus dying for the sins of humanity. The primarchs are the disciples, one of which (Horus) leads a betrayal and (according to at least one book) realised his wrongdoing in the moments before death. Hardly unlike Judas then.

That's tenuous at best, if you consider that half of the other disciples weren't in on Judas' betrayal.

YEah but if we're getting caught in details then it's even more tenuous when you consider that none of the disciples were genetically engineered to be perfect egenerals and killers... and none of them wore power armour... and it wasn't even in space!

Anyway Welcome to Dakka OP.

Everything is technically in space, if you think about it.

Yeah i did point this out to myself after i wrote it but according to the Big Book of Purplefood there are 3 types of 'In space':
Type 1) Lost in Space- Funny spider things try to eat you and your spaceship. Avoid but not at all costs because that would be silly and possibly very expensive and we don't have any change.
Type 2) In space- Where everything is.
Type 3) In space!- Not on planets.

I am not uneducated in terms of religious matters. my Ex Wife has a Masters in Religious Anthropology, and I used to read her textbooks. I am wondering if the original poster has;
A) defined Atheistic as anything not based in Judeo-Christian religion, or
B) read any of the background material on the 40K 'verse.

I am guessing it is option A. Strictly speaking Atheistic means not believing in a Deity. There are metric craptonnes of data in the source material suggesting that every faction, with 2 exceptions have religion in abundance. Just not necessarily a Judeo-Christian belief system. The exceptions I mentioned are The Tyranids and the Tau. The Tyranids may well have some form of belief in their hivemind as a godform. The Tau may have rejected the idea of Divinity, but still have a religion in the form of The Greater Good, and even have a Priest Caste, the Ethereals.
