...and I was wondering what size models? 28mm?
Deathwatch (and all the
40K RPGs) are not miniature-based games. You don't have to use any miniatures, or can do everything with miniatures. It is not a table top war game - it's a traditional
GM + 3-6 player role-playing game.
And do you get to pick your wargear? Or do you roll for it/have a kind of allowance/it is picked by whoever's in charge?
Don't take this the wrong way, but reading the rulebook will clear that up almost instantly. But to give a more specific answer:
1. All Marines have standard issue gear (Bolt Pistol, Combat Knife, 3 Frags, 3 Kraks and a few other things).
2. All Marines get additional weapons based upon what career they choose (Assault Marines get a Chainsword and a Jump Pack, Librarians get a Bolter and a Force Weapon, and so on).
3. In most missions the
GM determines how much Requisition the Kill-Team will get, and this can either be done arbitrarily or based upon what objectives they need to complete. This requisition can then be used to purchase additional equipment.
4. Sometimes the
GM may assign specialist gear (ie. give out Melta-Bombs to the team as they'll need them to complete their primary objective).
5. Some of the advances that Marines can take allow them to get 'signature' Wargear, that is additional equipment that is treated like standard wargear, and that they don't have to give back at the end of a mission.
Hope that helps.
