My name is Nick and I'm from Melbourne Australia, yes. the place GW loves to rip off!
ABout 8 or 9 years ago I got Into the 40k scene and I distinctly remember the first box set I ever bought was a set of death company back when they were metal and cost about $30AUD from GW... Ahh the good ol' days heh, anywho, since that was the case my first army was obviously, the Blood Angels which kinda made me a bit biased towards them when choosing another army now!

Back in the days of being a young teenager without any issues at all, I would Occasionally play at my local GW but I preferred the modeling and painting aspect to it, be it WHFB, 40K, or LOTR I enjoyed the painting and custimizations a lot more then playing the game itself. So I thought I would blow some cash since ATM the Aussie dollar is very good, there is good value for money online and thus went a lil bit overboard (you fellas all know what it's like, to have the freedom and no set budget to get whatever you want you go crazy!)
So basically back when I was into the whole scene judging by my past models, which are locked up in storage somewhere I was a pretty decent table top painter, nothing to special but very clean, shading and highlights etc... Now that I'm older and wiser and most importantly more patient and have a better eye for detail, my painting will be a lot better, obviously you guys will be able to see it soon and give me some C&C

Anyway, weeks went by I went through eBay, through the forums, and all the bitz sites I discovered because of you guys, and studied up on what I was planning to buy. Now take into account I live in AUS, so I will Unfortunately have to wait a couple weeks I receive my stuff from the US and UK but I thought I may aswell start a blog now ready for when they arrive.


Now For the good part, in the last 3hours, I have placed several orders online to create what I hope
To be a good BA army which will be fun and exciting to create.

I'll just list what I have ordered kinda like a army list going through HQ Elites etc etc.

So that's what I have ordered and paid for, for my BA project,
On the side I also purchased tyberos the red wake, vulkan he'staan and the 4 masters of the chapters.

I also picked up a lot of paints and washes etc, off eBay and think I have spent enough money on 40k to
Last me the next 6momths haha. Obviously I don't plan to battle/play the game as of yet, but maybe in the future who knows. All I know is I bought about $1500 retail (AUS prices ) for 1/3 of that figure which I am very satisfied with.

So yeh that's where I am at! Just have to wait for thins to be shipped then I will Start with all the pics and WIP pics and commentary etc and would love for you guys to have a chat in here and give me any CC or voice your opinion on anything with regards to my project.

I shall be keeping you guys updated step by step, as for now, Its time to get some sleep.

Oh and keep up the good work everyone, so many of you have inspired me so much already haha.

Soooo thought I would update this today, since package number 1, 2, and 3 all arrived this morning!! Yippee

My stuff from forgeworld arrived, the techmarine with servo harness and thunderfire cannon also arrived, as did a bunch of assorted bitz I got off eBay!

Will be updating with pics later today (just incase anything else comes in the mail hehe.)

Also received my email saying bitzbarn has finally dispatched my order, after 11 days of processing -.- in other words forgeworld sent my order an I received it quicker then bitzbarn even decided to send it, but oh well!!

Ok so it worked, I shall update everything I have receive so far, let it be known, nothing is glued together yet, and all mould lines have been removed since the photos!

So woke up this morning to find more packages at my door, got a whole bich of reaper paints off eBay, paid roughly $2us a bottle, as you can see, lots of blacks, washes and inks since you can never have too much black washes hahaha



Stil waiting on all the GW paint Iv ordered to come.

Also receive some bitz from hoard'o'bitz
Lots of chaos and a few ork bits for scenery purposes etc






Will also bE painting a few emperors children for the fun of painting pink chaos marines haha.

Next is my thunderfire cannon and techmarine,I mentioned earlier got it for a steal off eBay think I paid 22$ shipped?

Yeh I saw, and commented on your BA model you painted, nothing like a bunch of death company and blood enraged marines for an army

Haha yeh part of the reason I'm spending so much money on FW is due to the fact the Aussie dollar is so high ATM.
Next on the list are, mk ii, iii, iv, and v set, a few other goodies, and either a contemptor or relic contemptor, havnt decided, (or both) that's my next order which i will be placing today.

After that I plan to get a land raider Achilles and possibly a Titan. Although Iv always wanted a gargantuant squiggoth despite never playing orks hahah

In comparison though, my dogs are worth a hell of a lot more then everything Iv spent so far on this project so it's no biggie really :p (Iv spent at least 1000$ au now.)

Just waiting to receive everything, like my brushes and paints/primers so I can get everything underway.

Yes that model has got to be fun to paint! I really want to get a Death Company kit as those guys are pure awesome! I cant wait to see some painted up!

Just ordered my relic contemptor pattern dred, with power claw and auto cannons (for now) will order another normal contemptor with power fist and las cannon, multi melta, an another auto cannon arm, aswell as some more bitz next week!

Also ordered mk iii and Iv set of marines. Was planning to order all 4 varients of armor but needed the money else where.

Also ordered more random bitz off eBay.

Received about 15 pots of GW paint today, aswell as my vanguard vets. - which are for sale of anyone wants to make an offer, as I don't think i need them.

Oh and I have started to paint some of the guys today, so will update with very WIP photos!

Welllllll after close to a decade of not picking up a brush and painting anything, I bring to you my take on sevrin loth:
Still WIP, as you can see only the armour is done so far, it's a nice light blue I was bored of the ultramarines blue. All CC is welcome.
Let me know what you think, I think I did alright haha especially considering I only used 1 brush to pair all of that!!

Still got a far bit to do on him - and I'm sure will look A LOT better once complete!

Any suggestions for the colour of his tabard? - let me know what you guys think!!

It is pretty well done! I like the blue color a lot! Very nice.
Now I will say that it appears that your paints are a little thick but that might be the camera...not sure. When you are done I would go back for a little clean up on the seams and details. But of course you have just the armor done so when you are finished it will offset the everything and will lend itself to hiding mistakes. I like the scheme though.

Looking good so far. I maybe would've saved doing your Libby til later though, as soon you'll be wading through red paint and the blue for his armour could've been a nice change.

I can already tell the libby is going to look awesome though.

Heh thanks guys, @HONAW yeh it's defs the camera, I always thin down my paints, so many layers and blending lol..
and evildrcheese, don't stress I have plenty of models to mix it up with in between the red, btw I'm painting more blacks and golds then I will be red anyway

Just realised how much he looks like he's from the sons of Horus legion with that colour haha, he's actually a lot more blue irl. Photos where taken with an iPhone 4s and although they are good, doesn't compare to a proper camera.

Where are you getting all of this stuff. I looked on Forgeworld and they dont have a good selection of stuff for BA.

Bitzbarn for the bulk of it, eBay for the cheap models basically that's it, just shop around for bargains.

Ah thanks! I might get some Death Company bitz to outfit my regular marines.

Wow just noticed how much the other colors bring out the blue! In the earlier photo of blue+black it looks close to
White/space wolves grey and when colour contrass with it it's more ice blue type colour

Well it's been a while, my Internet crashed and didn't bother fixing it lol... Bit of an update, been painting the pre heresy stud I got from FW as pre heresy death guard - something different I all the red...

Also finished some death company .

And on a positive note, I emailed FW regarding the miscast banner from the sevrin loth squad and they sent me an entire new squad out. Which is now for sale in the sale section.

Haha yeh... Havnt done much tbh I painted a few pre heresy death guard, and then one of my dogs decided to chew on two of em so that was a shame...

But since painting sevrin loth till now, I must say my technique is sooo much better, what I'm painting now, after getting back into the swing of things, that sevrin loth is quite poor! I'm actually going to strip him eventually and repaint it.

Im gonna make another huge FW order soon anyway, so I'll throw up pics of some more completed minis soon.

Ace looking librarian - the Sevrin Loth model is really versatile in terms of chapter (I saw a Word Bearer version only yesterday). Also a Blood Angel fan - so I look forward to seeing what you come up with (and stealing all your ideas!). Very jealous of the range of parts you are using (I'm very tempted to splurge on forgeworld stuff and go for some pre-heresy angels).

Bit of an update some WIP pics of my pre heresy death guard.





Basically the two on the left, is a custom coat of catachan green + chaos black + bleached bone+ rotting flesh then a badab blak wash pretty heavily to get into the recesses.

The one on the right is still WIP but as you can see has more coats, working its way up towards tht dirty off white color. That one has had no washes just carefully painted, leaving all the black on the recess (take hours to paint like this) and still has a few more brighter coats to come... Decided to do the green to show you how it will look which is also a custom blend, similar to dark Angels green and higighte by adding bleached bone for a pale green look.






Then here we have my WIP Nathaniel Garro
If you read up about him while he was still in the death guard under mortarion, you'll know he wore mk Iv armour with two eagles rising up on his chest and back, and wielded a large broad sword, I havnt got any GS atm so did what I could without it, still need to get some GS and create the head of the eagle on the front of his chest, and make a few more bits and peices but I think he looks awesome.


Got a bunch of death korps of krieg on the way aswell - never been a man for imperial guard but always been intrigued by te dkok do decided to pick some up!! Gonna have my work cut out for me though as Iv purchased about 60 infantry and like 5 different heavy weapon units... So that's a lot of painting.

And I apologize for such the long time in between updates, just recently got a job after a long time off so I have been very busy.

I would have had pics up earlier of some death guard but one of my dogs decided to use two marines a chew toys because I stupidly left them out when I left the house -.-" more disappointed about the hours of work I put into them then the fact Iv lost the models themselves because they looked amazing, I wet blended the armour and it was awesome but oh wells!

once again my internet has screwed up at home.. its ridiculous happens everytime theres a huge storm but oh well... im at the local library atm... but once my net is back, those 3 Death guard i showed earlier, have been 95% completed...

i also have about 70 DKoK unpainted... and ontop of that, just placed a 350 quid order at FW, ontop of the 100 quid order i placed last week lol....

these orders include: asterin moloc, tartaros pattern termies, 50 bolters mixed up of umbra ferrox and phobos, special weapon packs, charecter conversion packs, another contemptor, 2 x kheres assault cannon arms, a convrersion beamer, 2 of the new predator deimos pattern with the plasma cannons, 2 sets of the new apothecaries(4 total) about 20 more marines, and probably more iv forgotten but spent ALOT of money lol.

anywho, once my net is up and running i will post some pics for all of you.

if you re-read what i said, it says i have just received 70 DKoK and placed an order at FW for 450quid total, but the order is for mainly pre heresy marine stuff, which i listed what i could remember off the top of my head.

Looks good so far...my only complaint is the Garro model you have is really awkward-looking...his head looks too far down his body...not sure if you were already going to rectify this but some GreenStuff under the head to raise him up to level out his head with his shoulders would be really great.

I'm going to be watching this, I love Pre-Heresy armies!

yeh, the angle the photo was taken on also doesnt help it either, but as i said no green stuff = no party... but iv ordered some and it will arive shortly, i have many things i need to add to him... thats just the basic idea/shape/pose im going for.

as for the DKOK i currently have in my possesion: 3 heavy weapon auto cannon teams, 1 heavy mortar, 10 advancing dkok 20 a"at ease"

and arriving in a couple days, is a command squad, hq squad, and another 30 or so dkok advancing/firing etc
aswell as a commissar on foot, and the LTD ED mounted commissar.

everything costs way to much money hahha.

on a positive note, i figured out a way to paint my death guard in half the time and still look awesome, in a few days when my net is back on i shall show you all theyre weathered, battle damaged, dull white armour in all its glory!
