For two bleak decades the Undead reavers of Count Noctilus have plagued the oceans of the world. And yet there remains hope; Captain Jaego Roth has vowed to hunt down and destroy the Undead captains once and for all, and with him stand the most notorious and cunning of the pirate lords of Sartosa. But even as these legendary figures prepare to do battle, destiny has a role for the most unlikely of heroes. Will you rise to the challenge?

Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce that Dreadfleet Captains, a Print on Demand expansion for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, is now available through our webstore!

The legends come to life
This exciting 40-card pack lets players bring the memorable characters of Games Workshop’s Dreadfleet to their WFRP campaigns with nearly a dozen new NPCs. Learn of quests from Captain Jaego Roth, parlay with The Golden Magus, or engage in combat with Count Noctilus himself. With Dreadfleet Captains, the choice is yours.

With new Creature cards, Action cards, Location cards, and more, Dreadfleet Captains features a host of new narrative options. Will your party hunt Sartosa’s shadowy pubs for rumours leading to Aranessa Anja Saltspite, or seek an audience with Prince Yrellian of Ulthuan? Wherever your adventures take you, you’ll have the cards and components you need to bring a piece of Dreadfleet’s action to your story.

What is Print on Demand?
Originally debuted with our announcement of expansions for Space Hulk – Death Angel: The Card Game, Print on Demand is an exciting new process that allows Fantasy Flight Games to produce professionally finished cards on a made-to-order basis, which opens up new opportunities for expanding existing games.

This process (not to be confused with Print and Play), results in smaller print runs of professionally manufactured products, allowing publishers to provide fans with content that would otherwise not be commercially viable. If you’re a retailer interested in carrying our Print on Demand products, visit our Professional Zone website to learn more.

Order yours today
Whether you incorporate just one of Dreadfleet’s epic figures into your campaign, or you use all of them, Dreadfleet Captains gives you exciting new ways to enjoy Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. Set sail for adventure!

Note: Due to variations in the printing process, cards from Print on Demand expansions will be subtly different in appearance and texture from base game cards.

Oregon. I have died of dysentery.

I sure hope this was something GW encouraged FFG to do, rather than someone at FFG approaching GW about it. Whoever's choice it was, they've lost the plot with this sort of commercial tie-in.

"But isn't this just like 2E's connection with the Storm of Chaos?" you ask.

No, because 2E didn't have the Storm of Chaos trademarked logo running across the front cover.

I think you are wrong, this sounds freaking hilarious! Someone at FFG or at GW clearly lost the plot on this one!

Yeah, Breotan, I was looking at that, too:

Indeed. A tribute to Dreadfleet: something else nobody wants.

(THIS SPACE INTENTIONALLY LEFT BLANK)

They are so fething bad at release scheduling. I bet they made these at the same time as cashfleet and had planned to revitalize their new hit game with timed expansions. Turned sour on them pretty quick.

Do you remember that time that thing happened?

WFRP 3E was a bad idea.

I'm hoping WFRP 4E (if/when it happens) returns to something a bit more RPG and a bit less proprietary dice.

Well you can just use normal dice. I actually really think the system is great and a ton of fun (the actual system minus the dice)

I believe this is how a lot of RPGs are going to go since it certainly cuts down on piracy which imo is a HUGE problem with DND and other systems and Im not even really anti-piracy on a limited scale. It's just a bit out of control for purely printed products

All the dice and tokens make it more fun for us anyhow

Suffolk, where the Aliens roam.

I actually think Kickstarter is more likely in the future of a lot of RPGs. Then stick a PoD on Drivethru afterwards for those who missed out on the 'original' print.

White Wolf looks like it is going to go that way, we'll know for certain in a few months when the reveal how we can pre-order W20.

It makes a lot of sense sadly, RPG sales are generally down across the industry, so you aim at the fans and force them to put their money where their mouth is if they want a book to come out.

No risk of over stocking an upopular title, and less pressure on the design team. The know the book has been paid for before work has begun.

On a positive, it might allow for books that don't get past planing stage because the designers don't think there will be a market for it. With Kickstarter, they can find out.

That's a good point also, kickstarter is allowing a lot of smaller projects to be started without the risk of "some guy stealing the money"

WFRP is already sorta like that, my store doesn't even stock it they just order on demand

I thought that was over. They should stop with the gimmicks, and just give us more models.

Looks like GW really threw FFG under the bus here.

But yeah, "poorly-timed" seems like an understatement here. Didn't GW just recently recall all the unsold boxes, presumably to be destroyed?

Good thing, too. The models they did for Talisman are really underwhelming.
