Just introducing myself here: Hello!
I have not lurked or looked around, so sorry if I make any gaffes - go soft on the newbie! I am just starting 40K, after some friends showed me the game and the rules. I like the Imperial 'feel' (I know Gothic science fiction is overused, but perhaps that it is because it is an excellent setting), the Guard most of all. The Poor Bl dy infantry never get a break, do they? I am a 'Modern' History student [talk about a misnomer, everything after the Romans is modern, it seems to me, but a great, varied course], particularly interested in the First World War, so the Death Korps of Krieg seemed the best choice - again a decision based on how they look, and I like the idea of an artillery-heavy siege army. I do know it is expensive, and I am no Duke of Westminster or Warren Buffet, but if I start small and collect one nice army over time, and if someone has two or three armies for the same cost, I don't mind - I am a Guard man through and through.

Wish me luck!

Imperial Guard is a labor of love - but once you spend the time and effort to do them right, in my opinion they are one of the best looking armies in the game. Not to mention one of the most competitive if played correctly.

Welcome to Dakka Dakka - and may your soldiers be fodder for my warband for many years to come!
