Subject: Possible US infantry alternative coming from Wargames Factory?

I was browsing Wargames Factory site and just a couple of days ago they launched 28mm American Infantry. Given their previous pattern with German Late War infantry, when 28mm was followed by 15mm, we can presume that soon (?) they will be doing the same kit in 15mm. Here is a pic of assembled poses - judge for Yourselves.

The 28mm Versions look good but I cant see how they can shrink what looks like quite a complex kit down to 15mm easily - It will be intresting to see what PSC comes up with to counteract these.

They shrinked the kit quite well for Germans, so I don't think that might be an issue with US Infantry. And indeed it appears that in case of American infantry WF will possible steal initiative from the PSC.

They will have to be quick, as PSC is gaining momentum. That said I think a fair bit of cross capatability is good, really like the BAR's especially with the US LMG teams. These will make nice core infantry for all the US Line units.

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest! |

I don't like these nearly as much as their Germans. Some of the poses don't seem as well thought out and some of the faces don't appeal to me. From the look of the sprue though I wouldn't have to use the heads I don't like and I'm sure with some careful positioning the wonky poses could be hidden a bit.
Seems like with a pack of these and a pack of their Germans ww2 skirmish is easily doable on the cheap. tempting tempting

I agree a lot of the faces look like they have just sniffed a turd.
That being said, I think the 15mm ones look like a nice alternative to the PSC ones, certainly the Germans coming with the panzerschreck is a nice bonus (although I have heard the miniature selection is a little bit poor in the WGF box when used for FoW).

PSC and WGF 15mm Germans nicely complement each other. WGF has four officers in the box (two with pistols, two with SMG), lots of SMG/Rifles, two 8mm mortars with crews, panzerscherks and panzerfausts with loaders, machinegun teams (prone and on-the-move). They also have 12 snipers, which is a bit ridiculous, but...
PSC has miniatures for observer teams (radioperator), no distinct officers unfortunately, SMG, rifles and MG (proen and on-the-move). No snipers, no mortars, no fausts/schreks (those will be included in their heavy weapon box bound for April 2012 - except the snipers). Both sets allow to cover quite a range of options IMO and they look good next to each other.

They actually look half decent. But why on earth they have chosen to release them now is a mystery to me.
What with Warlord games 28mm and PSC 15mm US infantry round the corner it seems odd to go up against them directly. I say release plastic 15mm British infantry and get the jump on them!

That sounds like a great idea actually, or perhaps release one of the less popular forces but one that some people still like to collect (mid war Italians perhaps?)

Do you think they definitely look OK mixed in? I was thinking of getting 1 box of PSC and 1 box of WMF.

The paintjob is not finished yet - there's still some details left and final antishine varnish. The kneeling guy is from PSC, the rest are WGF.
