From what i've seen likely to be Gondor or Misty mountains.

Misty mountains probably because of the starter set

Probably Easterlings? A lot of people seem to like those guys (With good reason)

Not really sure though. Its not really clear cut like it is in 40k to be honest.

This is true. Things are a lot more balanced. But i think in my area the most popular would be dwarves and angmar. But angmar only in WotR. The guy hates Angmar in SBG cause there is no Carn Dum barbarians or Werewolves.

So there are no particular favourites overall, it's different depending on where you are.

I think unlike 40k and fantasy people tend to play LotR cause they like the armies and the people in the world more than just the rules. So more people play certain armies cause they want to than people just playing an army cause of gameplay mechanics and rules.

Then again there is a LotR player i know that has never seen the films or read the books lol, he's a really good player too. Plays Isenguard. Goes to show that the game can stand up on its own.

haha, just doesn't really have interest in watching them XD He's a cool bloke, really great wargamer though, has big 40K, fantasy and WotR armies. Just isn;t so much into the fantasy movies and books lol. just enjoys the game systems and the models.

May seem pretty weird to us though.

Yeah. Thinking of making Isenguard now. Thydan wolfsbane is a beast in SBG. Probly end up with mainly harad and throw in some isenguard allies. Not very story likely though but who cares XD

Staying on target.....

Gondor, Moria and Harad I reckon.

Gondor is an obvious choice, the other two are for likeability factors.

Rohan won't be far behind though

No one does Angmar though except me and Dr.What

I suppose it's the lack of choice, most of there units are also in mordor

Yeah, they lack enough options in SBG to catch my eye. If they had the barbarians and werewolves i would be really tempted by them. Would also give all spirit forces some real hitting power.

Dwarves i've found to be really popular. You see a lot of dwarf battle reports about. Going to see even more post hobbit releases i can imagine.

And Mordor has extra choices like trolls and other types of orcs

My first good army i think will either be Fiefdoms (mainly Dol Amroth and lamedon) if i wanted to be serious or if they release decent sized plastic boxes then i'll go hobbitses. Look like such fun. Plus everyone has a ranged attack and i'd outnumber everyone. Including goblins.

I thought GW had made all the different hobbits already

Grim Forgotten Nihilist Forest.

Lots of Easterlings and Uruk-Hai. You'd think Rohan and Gondor would be a frequent sight.

I've sold so many armies. :(

i mean the regular troops. Like hobbit archers and hobbit militia. Didn't think they did plastic boxes for them yet.

Easterlings are understandably frequent

I just assumed they did them in plastic

Easterlings are getting pretty popular these days. I wanna see some more love for the unusual armies like hobbits and things like that.

Is it even possible to have a pure hobbit 500 point list? I think they have 4-5 characters who aren't independant so that's 48-60 hobbits? At 5 a pop (if you upgrade them with either Merry's or Pippin's upgrades) that's 300 points tops.

Actually you might be able to get a 500 but no larger!

They have quite a few heroes. About 9 i think. Not sure how many ain't independant though.

I'd probly ally in ents for hitting power, plus i could easily afford too.

I reckon ol' Bandobras might be independant, the fella who's like the largest hobbit there's ever been and can even ride a horse I believe, long time since I had the shire book but it was cool

The Bull Roarer is independent i think yeah. Would need someone with the free peoples book to pop in and let us know XD But i know to lead hobbits you got the 4 main hobbits, fatty bolgar, paladin took, bilbo (not sure if he's independent or not) Lobelia, and i think there is a couple more as well. Be cool to add in other tiny peoples like the woses.

Fine, I'll look

There are 5 heros that can lead hobbits. They are: Frodo of the nine finger, samwise the brave, Peregin captain of the shire, meriadoc captain of the shire and Paladin Took. There are also 3 independant heros which are Lobelia sackville-baggins, Fredegar Bolger and Farmer Maggot (and his dogs )

The Bullroarer and Bilbo are both heros for the wanderers of the wild list but they aren't independent so they can be in Shire lists, they just can't lead their own hobbits (but strangely they could be leading some ents )

Now that is great news. Be historically weird to run The Bullroarer alongside other hobbit heroes but i feel he's actually be worth his salt in combat compared to most of the others.

How many hobbits could you have in 250pts assuming i just wanted to use merry and pippin as heroes as i know they're 60pts each. I think i'd be able to have the full 24 hobbits. 8 buckland guys and 4 tookish hunters per warband.

I really really want hobbit plastics now. Be a great mighty fun army to use. Be a fun 4th age force too. Merry leading his Buckland troops and pippin with his tookish hunters and Sam leading the shirrifs as mayor XD

I'm pretty sure Merry and Pip are 30 each?

The Bullroarer is 40 (I know that for sure as I looked at him a sec ago )

24 hobbits times 5 points = 120

So all of them equal 220 points?
