Anyone ever played the starcraft board game? How hard is it to get hold of? Also what are the miniatures like to paint.

It's a lot of fun my group loves it. The factions are pretty well balanced and their unique victory conditions makes every game different. It can get bogged down in mechanics especially if you are new to the rules but it's not bad really.
I didn't paint the minis. They are very good quality for board game use (as fantasy flight minis usually are), but they aren't on the same level as wargame minis. There are pictures of painted ones on board game geek though.

Overall I give it 8.5/10

I've made the joke that it would be easier to get two computers, two copies of Starcraft, and LAN them up together. It is fairly complex, but the models and materials are gorgeous. In other words, it's pretty much par for the course with FFG, which is a good thing. I'd love to play it again.

I painted the entire set of Starcraft miniatures for a commission. They are surprisingly detailed for their scale considering they are in soft plastic. I never played the game, but the models paint up really well!

What size are these? Can someone post a size comparision to a Space Marine or a Guardsman? They look really sweet.

"If you really want to know what it was like, to fight in the air in the great War, then go up to someone you have never met and who has never done you the slightest harm and pour a two-gallon tin of petrol over them. Then apply a match, and when they are nicely ablaze, push them from a fifteenth-floor window after first perhaps shooting them a few times in the back with a revolver. And be aware as you are doing these things that ten seconds later someone else will quite probably do them to you. This will exactly reproduce... the substance of First World War aerial combat and will cost your country nothing. It will also avoid the necessity of ten million other people to die in order for you to enjoy it."

It's a shame the figures aren't in scale with anything but their game sprites, which were also out of scale. I would have loved to paint up a 15mm scale army of them.
