Subject: 2k Necrons - So many MCs, you'll think you're playing Tyranids

So I was thinking "man, the Necrons have a lot of Monstrous Creatures in their codex." Then I made this list.
Imotekh + Chronotek
Zahndrekh
C'tan Shard w/ Times Arrow and Gaze of Death
C'tan Shard w/ Grand Illusion and Transdimensional Thunderbolt
C'tan Shard w/ Pyreshards and Moulder of Worlds
10 Tesla Immortals
9 Gauss Immortals
3 Scarabs
3 Canoptek Spyders
3 Spyders
2 Spyders
It comes out to 1992 points. I have 11 Monstrous Creatures, that start under the cover of darkness, and Zahndrekh can give a Spyder unit or C'tan Shard Furious Charge (S7 I4 or S8 I5, respectively). Chronotek helps to ensure that the Lightning keeps a-comin'. Imotekh with the Gauss immortals, Zahndrekh with the Tesla. Scarabs start small and get bigger, thanks to the many Spyders. I'm hoping that my opponent, should I ever play this list, will simply lose his fudge and not know what to shoot at. Considering that I've had a single Shard soak up six railguns shots in a row, I think that this list would work fairly well.

That...is a little intimidating.
They won't get many cover saves, but that night fighting, plus the move through cover, plus the massive scarabs farm, vehicles are....well....toast.
I like it, just never field it against Grey Knights

2 troops. they die 1st. 66% of scenarios are now unwinnable.
Consider at least Trazyn
Hope a lucky shot doesn't take out the scarabs first turn

Well, considering that if I do not have the initiative I have a 50/50 shot at taking it, I won't be in that much trouble. Also, I won't be putting everything out in the open, mainly because cover exists and I like using it.
Oh, and I field it against Grey Knights. Right as soon as someone I know starts playing grey knights. Which will probably be never.

Why the 3 Ctan? They cost a gakload, and don't even hit very hard for their points.
I'd drop them and pick up more troops. 2 squads of Scarabs is good too, it makes playing the list far easier, as you get a larger footprint and more freedom in maneuvering. If you want hitting power, consider a squad of Wraiths w/ Destroyer Lord attached, they've worked very well for me in my Scarabswarm list.

The 3 C'tan are there to max out the MC count in this particular list. Really, the scarabs are there as an afterthought.
The C'tan are overpriced, though in the games I've used them they've been decent and soaked up a lot of fire. Imotekh is there as a force multiplier; his lightning adds a range I don't have, and his night fighting increases the survivability of everything.

Hey i stole this list and played it against sisters of battle I didnt have Imotekh, just an overlord that i gave phaeron and sat him in a 20 squad of warriors. The scarabs did pretty well, ate an immolator and a squad of girls. Then my opponents turn came and the 18 scarabs got reduced to one base due to something like 6 flamer templates. The spyders were all right, i was disappointed in how brittle they were. Got wiped in CC to repentias. Give them particle beamers so they were somewhat effective in pot shotting a couple of vehicles.
Overall, it was a fun list to play!

I'm only slightly familiar with Repentias. If I recall correctly, they're the ones with Eviscerators, right? I would imagine that against Chainfists Spypers might not do so well.
I'm glad you enjoyed the list! It was fun to build as well.
