OK, my son and I both play Infinity already (Yu Jing for him, Ariadna and Aleph for me). We're both big fans of pirates, so are contemplating buying a Qapu Khalqi army between us.
Inevitably that means we will probably want at least 2 Yuan Yuan and 2 Bashi Bazouks, among other things. Too much impetuousity?
Any suggestions as to what else we should pick up? I do like the idea of getting at least one Azra'il in there too, probably the Feuerbach one.

I wouldn't say that's too much Impetuousity, but too much irregularity.
I'd highly recommend a Druze box and Odalisque box. The Azra'il with the Feuerbach is awesome, but honestly I've had far more success with the Panzerfaust/Flame Thrower/AP Rifle versus.

Thanks! Yeah, that too.
I think we will probably end up with Druzes and Odalisques, aye.
Hmm, sounds like we need more than one Azra'il too. And Hafza. Ah well. Time to sell some Dark Eldar boxes.
The Feuerbach just seems, in effect, like a mini-Autocannon. Which is enormously appealing.

Ok, Qapu Khalqi is the best army for Fireteams in the whole game.
So I would highly recommend:
Hafza- Because these guys are cheap and can be part of any fireteam.
Djanbazans- 5 Djanbazan (or 4+1 hafza) best fireteam of the whole Qapu Khalqi
Odalisques- Now they have the Haris Rule, so three of them can make an extra firetam.
Yuan Yuan- cheap and effective para troopers.
So, I would suggest a an army list like this:
QAPU KHALQI

Has Devil Team's army builder updated the Odalisgue (and Ariadna SAS) profiles yet?

Not that I've seen no. Makes me wonder if it's due to new units being expectedly released with the new book. Why else would they not update it yet right? right?
--Edit:
The SAS Forward Observer and Morat Vanguard Missile Launcher I believe have been updated in the army builder, but the Odalisques have not.

Djanbazan and Druze scare me the most. Djan because of their MSV that seem to see right through my cam. and the Druze with their X-visor making them easily get into a good range.

Thanks, guys, that's very helpful!
No love for the Bashi Bazouks then? Automatically Appended Next Post: Incidentally, there is a Peter Gabriel song that should probably be the Qapu Khalqui theme tune:

Bashi Bazouks are pretty awesome. They are one of the cheapest (if not the cheapest) AD units in the game and they get AP ammunition (either rifle or the boarding shotgun). They pay for it with crappy BS, but they're relatively hard to kill thanks to holo, have decent range to mitigate picking a bad spot to come in on with the rifle option, and they're irregular, which means you don't care so much if they die. Ram them up your opponent's throat and make him deal with them instead of your link team. If he doesn't, then they continue to wreak havoc behind his troops.
I would take 2 in a QK list, but only if I had 8 regular orders already. Any more irregularity than that and you're getting into trouble doing anything.
As an aside, I would never take the 22 pt e/mauler version. Loss of ap ammo for a high-tech only mine seems...strange. And it costs SWC you should be using on odalisque spitfires and/or djan HMGs.

Damn... you are right.
If they had decent miniatures BBs would be more popular... I guess it's time to ask CB for a re-design + re-sculpt.

It'd certainly be good to see the AP rifle option available as a mini. I think I'd be tempted to give the e/mauler version a try though, if I ever had SWC spare (ha!), in that it also has a combi-rifle rather than an AP rifle -- I always like having somethin decent in that 0-8" range band if possible, although I guess it's less vital for an AD troop.
I quite like both the existing minis anyway, all told.

I think the combi rifle mini is actually pretty cool. I got rid of the e/mauler and stuck the old janissary's sword in his hand and use him pretty regularly as the ap rifle version.
The boarding shotgun one suffers from the weird bow-legged pose thing they were doing with the old heroic scale haqq minis. Still ok though.
