I've just had my delivery from GW of finecast Telion & Sniper Scouts.

The strange thing is that the usual packing picture on the front of the finecast clamshell pack is absent, in its place is a white bit of paper (I'll upload a picture in a sec) with the Citadel logo. It then lists the various games they do. Warhammer, Warhammer 40,000, and LotR.

The weirder thing is that it lists something else immediately after the 40k logo and before the LotR logo. It says "Chaos Daemons (tm)".

Am I reading too much in to this? Could it just be that they ran out of Telion labels and someone had to make something up quickly as a stand in?

Equally, could GW be making a new Chaos sub game, all about the powers of the warp, and the goings-on of that particular realm? Please bare in mind that this is just the ravings of a mad man here, I could easily be reading too much in to it, though thought it worth posting about non the less.

Pic will be up in a few minutes.

Cheers

Hm, isn´t "Chaos Daemons" simply the label they sell, well, Chaos Daemons under?

Iirc the Daemons aren´t sold under the Warhammer or 40k since they can be used by both. At least here in germany they have a label "Chaos Daemons" with the 8 pointed chaos star instead of the Warhammer or 40k label.

Might just be a generic paper printed for any blisters they send through direct order like that. Seems easier to have one to cover them all than to make individual ones. When you look at the boxes for the Daemons since they cover both 40k and WFHB they have their own logo.

Sounds like a cost saving measure to me. They did this with the specialist games packaging a while back. Why print individual detailed colour labels for every model they produce when they can mass produce the same white (hardly any ink needed) insert with a sticky label explaining the contents. If they are cost saving at this level, things must be getting increasingly tight over at the Wacky Workshop.

Yep, looks like the standard Daemons packaging label. I doubt it's the sign of anything grand to come.

Seems to be simply the iconography off the chaos daemons packaging, nothing special.

It's a standard mail-order thing really, they do the same with Specialist Games orders and whatnot.

Fair enough, I'd not seen them do that before.

But... Why is it even on the package? Sure they do it on a lot of packages, and sure it's "just" the old Daemons logo. But why is it in the middle of everything like that? Because they are cross-system compatible, or?

Because all of the things they ship have one of those logos on them, so this little card piece covers whatever packaging logo the contents should have, were it in proper packaging. Saves making four separate cards.

Agreed that it'll more likely be due to cross system compatibility than a new game (though that universe is well worth exploring imo) BUT, they do include the product name on the bottom of the packaging, so its not to reduce the number of different sheets needed like you suggested htj

Could just run them through another printer that does that tiny label to say what product it is. Though vigilance like this is always good for spotting new things, seeing as they try to do it sometimes anyway.

Yeah, but that's probably printed after on the generic blanks, I reckon. Anyway, I hope that this does turn out to be the herald of a new Daemons game for two reasons:

1) A Daemon fighting game sounds like a tonne of fun.

2) I collect Daemons, so it'd mean more dollies for me!

Wouldn't get my hopes up, though.

Yep, sounds cool (a million times better than dreadfleet in that it links to both other games, and could make for some SERIOUSLY COOL narrative) but like you say, we're probably just wishlisting.

I suppose it could even be like Space Hulk in a way with Daemons invading ships as the gellar fields are breached. With a bit of effort it can go in any direction really.

Though more or less I suppose 40k could be used to show to constant struggle for power in the warp between the gods. Just collect Daemons of a specific god, then have others do so as well. But, then again a skirmish game following the fall of some character could also be interesting. With the way they support the other games they make though I sort of doubt something like that would get past a limited release like the latest Space Hulk or Dread Fleet unfortunately, which is a shame given the amount of notice they give everyone about it.

It's not a new game, that packaging slip has been that way since Finecast started.

Or at least since the Finecast Chaos Banner sets released, since that was the first time I saw them. One of the stores here got them in release weekend and had that exact slip minus the words telling you what was in it.

It's far from being new.

No, it's a sign of nothing. These are generic labels GW uses for web exclusive items. Since they're not available in stores GW doesn't have to bother designing or printing out a fancy clam pack insert and it bares all the game logos so they don't have to have multiples/specific inserts.

Those arent the names of games. Those are the names of miniatures lines.

Chaos daemons is its own line, usable in warhammer and warhammer 40,000.... At least as far as trademarks are concerned.

That's the one, It's simply listing the trademark Logo's. Chaos Daemons have a separate Trademark logo due to the cross rule set.

Nothing more, nothing less.

This, these labels have been in use on the front of mail order only finecast packages for a while now.

By the op's logic then Citadel must also be some unreleased game, its all just legal trademark nonsense so they can have a generic card backing for their packaging, nothing more.

No my pukey friend, the op realises fully well that Citadel is the name of the company that makes the models, and not a game.

The thought stems from the inclusion of a seemingly random army name alongside the core games. Nothing more, nothing less.
