Preacher of the Emperor

Hi all,
I'm intending to write my own thread in Dakka Fiction, an alternate future one for Word Bearers where Lorgar attacks the Emperor during the shaming at Monarchia.

So, for this, I need a few things;
Was Monarchia post- or pre-Nikea, so I can know whether to give them Librarians? I think it'd be cool for them to have psychic powers unleashed during that battle.

I also need at least four Colchisian-sounding names, at least one of which should be a two word name like Argel Tal or Kor Phaeron.
And, if you feel really generous, maybe even come up with some equipment loadouts. I think at least one should wear Terminator Armour, but that's just me.

Thanks in advance!

Long before. 40 years before the Battles at Calth and Istvaan V IIRC, so approximately the same amount of time before Nikea.

However, I'd suggest that your story is quite out of character for Lorgar. Lorgar fell to Chaos because he wasn't strong enough, mentally, to handle the rejection of the Emperor. He lashed out at Guilliman because he was throwing a tantrum, and he knew Guilliman wouldn't hit him back. Even though Guilliman would have stomped his head in, Lorgar knew Guilliman was the model of restraint and reason that he wasn't. The same reason people throw things when they get mad, or sociopaths kick animals or beat their spouses. Lorgar wouldn't strike the Emperor because he was a coward. He worshiped the Emperor more than anything. Not just as a father, but as a god (father, da dum chsshh). His anger at Guilliman was because Guilliman was everything he was not, and everything that the Emperor expected of his "sons", whereas Lorgar was a "failure". That's why he turned to Chaos. He didn't get the acceptance and validation he craved from the Emperor, and shattered by the rejection, he went elsewhere looking for "truth" (really what he wanted were the soothing lies Chaos told him). But at Monarchia, Lorgar was still obsessed with the Emperor, and would never have struck him.

The alternate history of that event you suggest is changing the very essence of Lorgar's character.

It is also woth noting (if you want to write about terminators) that space marines in Terminator armour are called cataphracti.

So dare I ask what happens if he farts? Could it blow the seals on the lower portion of his armor? Or is a space marine's system immune to such mundane fluctuations of bodily conduct?

No one should be complaining about this codex. It gave regular Eldar a much needed buff by allowing us to drop Fire Dragons and D-Scythe Wraithguard wherever we want, without scatter. Without this, I almost lost a game once. It was scary. I almost took to buying fixed dice to ensure it never happened again.

It would be a possible story to have the Word Bearers themselves attack the Emperor and Guilliman, with Lorgar not helping but not stopping them either. It would be a short story though, the Emprah was already pissed and an entire legion attacking him would force him to use his full power.

You are likely right.

However, I always thought that no matter how psychicly powerful the Emperor is, he is still human. So a superhuman wielding a powered mace could likely do him in. Mind you, Horus and all...

So, the Emperor's full power...

No matter how powerful one individual is, there is no way he can kill one hundred thousand post-human monstrosities. Or is there? You guys tell me.

I dunno. He was the guy who powered the Astronomicon in his free time, lol.

Psychically disabling a small army seems like small potatoes. Especially since he created them and probably would know their psychic "off switch" so to speak.

Besides, any violence against the Emperor would have been met by him and Guilliman being teleported off the planet, and his flagship nuking the site from orbit. After all, it's the only way to be sure.

Did he bring his flagship? I thought he was bunking with the Ultramarines. Having the ship there would be a dead giveaway.

I just thought he'd be a man with fancy armour, a fancy sword and a massive set of talons, and his only real strengths would be his skill-at-arms and psychic powers. Also, I didn't see him as an aggressive psyker, more of an observer from afar. Not so much psychic lightning bolts as much as cloaking his weapons and armour, like in that short story with the church.

He used his Psychic power to force all of the Word Bearers into the dirt so I'd say he was a pretty agressive psyker when he wants to be.

Good point, not sure how I missed that...
