Subject: Penitent Engines. Should they be MC?

Title says it all. While Penitent engines do fulfill the "dreadnought" role, would it make more sense to count them as MC much like Eldar Wraithlord and Grey Knight Dreadknights? Certainly would make them a tad more survivable, but then again we've always had walker Penitents

More survivable? Against what? The change lowers its survivability against anything that isn't Lascannons or better.

If they were 3 wound MCs, they would probably be more survivable than 3 HP walkers.

It would really take them in a new direction so it is hard to say but I'd definitely but for it if they got some kind of faith power by switching from walker to MC. However knowing the way these things go they would probably end up with 3 wounds, toughness 3 with a 3+/++6 save and in which case they would still die pretty regularly before reaching the enemy.

:s I've never had a problem reaching the enemy with penitent engines. 3 squadrons of 2 with rhinos and sisters repentia in front has served me well.
If you made them T7 W3 with a 4+ save, they'd be about as survivable. If you made them T6 W3 with a 5+ save (as they're more likely to be - they have no special armour, and the engine doesnt work without the penitent), then you're dying to bolters and lasguns.

Well how about these stats for MC Penitent engine?
WS4 BS2 S5(10) T6 W3 I3 AD6+1 Ld8 SV-
Type: MC
Special Rules: Rage, Shield of Faith, *Unstoppable Rampage, Battle Frenzy, Fearless, Feel No Pain (it is after all a really big arco)
Wargear: 2 Dreadnought CCW with Built In Heavy Flamers
Unstoppable Rampage: The Penitent Engine gains "It will not die" USR so long as it was apart of a Close Combat until the end of your turn

The S 5(10) is redundant in this case since as a MC it can't have its arms blown off.
Also I think it needs some kind of stronger save or this will get killed by the first volley of fire shot at it. My deathcult will often take three wounds or more from enemy fire if they are left out in the open for a round and they've got 5++/ FNP most of the time. It should get a +2 save and drop FNP IMO as that would capture the original feeling of the PE being almost immune to small arms fire while very vulnerable to attacks from melta and the like unless you are considering revamping the unit away from being the glass cannon it is now.

I would think a S10 HoW would be a tad OP
I do agree about survivability, but imo its hard to justify the P Engine having any amount of large protection whether it's an AV11 open top walker, or a MC that is less armored than a Dreadknight or a Talos

S10 HoW might be OP but since you always use the stat in parenthesis in 6ths all I'm saying it clean up the formatting as it is S10 (and thus a S10 HoW) either way.
If you need a fluff justified game stat (instead of a functional one) how about you give it a +4 invulnerable save from a Rosarius built into it or something like that and FNP. That would be in keeping with most of the sister's relics.

Hmm so to be a proper statline then in the stats I would just have S5 then?
A higher invl might be an acceptable form of protection
