Hi all,

We've been testing out Mantic's sci-fi board game Project Pandora: Grim Cargo. Use the link below to see close-up pics of the contents and see what we thought of the rules & gameplay.

It seems like a great game to play if you want something quicker than a full on tabletop wargame, plus the figures can be used in your armies when you're not playing this. Is anyone else playing it? What do you think?

Thanks for the review! Think I really should have picked this up already, Total Wargamer has it at £24.99 at the moment which is a pretty mental price I feel.

...and now I have to buy Project Pandora.
It looks like a lot of fun and definitely worth the price.
Thanks for the review.

Ehh, after Dwarf King's Hold, I am a bit weary of those wargame/board middle ground products.

It always feels that it requires too much assembly for boardgames, to little for wargamers.

I love KoW, but I find it pretty difficult to get people to play DKH.

Really? I've found the opposite and that people who wouldn't go within a country mile of a miniature wargame will play the likes of DKH and Space Hulk, and other board games I have collected. Great way to kill an hour or two with some friends, snacks, beers etc. and then just throw it all back in the box afterwards.

I'm from the future. The future of space

I'm going to go see if I can't find some youtube videos related to Project Pandora.

I'm really unsure of whether or not I want to get back into 28mm sci-fi as I started with 15mm sci-fi half a year ago. But this might make a cool stand alone board game.

Though I'm thinking Dwarf Kings Hold + expansions might be better as I'm definitely into 28mm fantasy and I'm a sucker for dungeon tiles (I have all the ones Wizards and Paizo have produced so far).

Though Dreadball sounds right up my alley. Hmmm.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

If anyone in the UK is interested an e-bay trader is currently selling new copies of Project Pandora for 40% off with free P&P so that's less than £20.

I just bought one on a whim, but thought I would spread the love. Just search for it on E-bay. Its the first result.

Damn guess I was 12 hours too late for your post. :(

Cheapest I can see it is £31.49 from the TrollTrader (although that is still a bloody good deal! )

Pity, he still had 2 avalible after I bought mine. Guess somone else must have snapped them up.

The trader is called 'dragonshog' and he is selling all Warpath stuff at 40% off. If your after any other warpath bits you can still get them from him.

I ended up buying the PDF of the rules for $5 and used miniatures from my existing collections along with D&D dungeon tiles. A Paizo flip map and a dry erase marker would work well also.

The dungeon tiles definitely changed the feel of the game from being about exploring a sci-fi compound and the game looked more like an Aliens Vs. Predator computer game thing with humans in some ancient infested temple.

Link to place you can buy the rules for $5 as a PDF:
