Perfidious Eldar! These aliens had the stars in their grasp and now are left to sift the dust of the once fabulous realm. For all their intellect and mysticism they could not contain the beast within them, nor tame the wild monsters of the Shadow. Why should be pay them any heed?
Grundwald, Ordo Xenos

It's been about two years since I had a full gaming army and with the release of Sixth I've been feeling that itch. So, without further adieu and taking full advantage of today's sun, I present to you the first models of my Eldar army (current working name: Eat melta smelly mon-keighs!).

Farseer Elenaith

Reverse

It would appear the venerated Farseer is covered with dog hair and static grass. This will be fixed thusly.

Wave Serpent WIP

The turret for this Wave Serpent may or may not have been left at my FLGS and may or may not be recovered until Tuesday. Woops.

Like many of my projects, I always have a goal in mind. With this there are in fact two: build and paint a full 1500pts Eldar army (ideally before the return to university and drunken unconsciousness) and do so on a budget. I have set a rough ballpark of £100 and will assemble my army via eBay, trade and by digging through my mighty pile of ageing miniatures in my room. The above Farseer was a model I'm not 100% sure as to how I acquired. It's been around since the release of the current codex but was painted with a thick coat of green, black and bone. I'm assuming it was a friend's old model, who left the hobby about four or five years ago, so it was stripped in break fluid and press-ganged into the army. The Wave Serpent came from a friend, unpainted and missing its canopy and the gun covers for its shuriken cannons in exchange for some help and materials for basing his own new-born Eldar army.

Comments and criticisms are, as always, entirely welcome. I would like you to be thorough with me, as this is the first time I've ever truly painted anything other than space marines as well as my first attempt at purple and painting in general with the new range of paints. Next on the shopping list are three guardian jetbikes (and hopefully another four from eBay).

ha, that's wicked, my mind went like this -

"Ok, that's cool"

to

"Ok, check out that cloak, that's pretty wicked, might nick that"

to

"feth, how crisp is that chequered pattern?!"

Lol - good stuff man!

If you've set a budget like that might I recommend a trip to Wayland Games website? They do bigger discounts for orders of £100 or more, even just for Joe Strummer off the street so you might save a bit more, and not have to put up with dodgy ebay people

Heh, that was a similar response to a staff member in my FLGS. I use a site called Dark Sphere as they offer about 25% off everything; a bit more than Wayland and they don't have the annoying habit of overcharging on blister packs.

Just a brief update to hopefully encourage some more comments

Jetbikes WIP

Hopefully I can get the riders done over the next two days and finish off the bases come Tuesday.

EDIT: I just noticed that the prows look rather washed out in these photos. They actually have the same gradient shading as the Wave Serpent. Hopefully the fully painted pictures will portray that better :S

Onto the updates!

Jetbikes Squad

These boyos are from the same squad. I forgot to assemble a shuriken cannon when I built the three, so the next one will form part of the seconds squad.

This is a beautiful looking army and am so looking forward to seeing more. Also your checks have given me an idea on how to do my harlequin venom, so thank you

What's this?

Why, it's a ruddy update!

So, after a hectic year at uni where very little got down I'm now home with nothing to do. And that means that I have both plenty of spare time to paint and no hangover to get in the way.

First off are the first ten Fire Dragons.

Since the new book came out my two units of ten will be reduced down to two units of eight, so I'm not sure whether or not to repaint two of this unit to join the other or to just get another two from somewhere.

And the other unit, with the reversed helmet design:

Whilst I like the look of these guys, they don't quite have the appeal of the other unit. But it's nice to differentiate the units.

Look! A fully painted Wave Serpent!

I felt the colour scheme was overall lacking in something, which as it turned out, was a spot colour. So a little bit of Iyandan Darksun later and I've got a nice canopy and some runes indicating their fiery cargo.

Here's the second Wave Serpent.

This one is currently waiting on the rest of the turret. It's the one I got off eBay a while back and came with a bright lance and scatter laser. Ew. So I've got to grab some shuriken cannons before I finish it off.

Finally we move onto the War Walkers which, I'm not going to lie, are some pretty damn sexy walkers.

I got these off a fantastic fellow Warseerite named The French Guy last semester. Unfortunately the gun shields have broken off and I never got the canopies so I need to crack on with getting them sorted. May or may not have to order them.

So currently the £100 is starting to look tight. I still need to get another bike and a 3 support weapons platforms before the army is complete. But currently I'm looking at:

Aximand's Eldar Budget: £76.00 /100.00 +£30 for the War Walkers. That's left me with £24 to get the last bits and pieces for the army. Here's hoping I make it!

@Aryllon: Thank you kindly! The harlequin theme was something I wanted to represent, it's just a shame I dont have any in the army :L

EDIT: Bleh, realised the jetbike photos were terrible. I'll get those up soon.

@kitch102: Cheers, it's good to be back painting. Just need to get back into gaming now!
@shamikebab: Thanks very much!

Here's the latest update on the jetbikes. 6/9 are done and the two more are on the work bench awaiting shuriken cannons.

It's really nice being this close to having a finished army!

Oh, and if anyone is interested, I have a whole host of items up in my For Sale thread in my signature.

Still looking awesome. I've seen somebody else do the guardian torso on the jetbikes and i will definatly be doing that when I get round to mine. Did you buy them spare or did you just use the parts out ouf the guardian box?

Looking forward to seeing the rest of the army
