As you may have noticed since the Ork Bommer kit came out people all over the world have been turning them into Imperial style fighters simply by not adding the Orky details after basic construction. As many people are making these I thought I may as well make some rules for them so here we go!

Thunder Joint Strike Fighter-175pts
BS3 FA10 SA10 RA10 HP3 Flyer, Fast.
The Thunder is a Heavy Support choice in an Imperial Guard Army.
Wargear: 2x Twin-Linked Autocannons, 2x Hellstrike Missiles.
Special Rules: Deep Strike, Scouts.
Options:
May take up to 4 additional Hellstrike Missiles for...10pts Each.
May swap Hellstrike Missiles for 2 Multiple Rocket Pods...5pts.
May swap 1 pair of Twin-Linked Autocannons for a pair of Twin-Linked Lascannons...25pts
May take an additional wing mounted Twin-Linked Autocannon for...15pts
May swap Hellstrike Missiles for up to 4 Napalm Bombs (R12" S6 AP5 Heavy, Large Blast, ignores cover)...10pts each
May swap nose mounted Twin-Linked Autocannon for a nose mounted Punisher Cannon...25pts
May take a AA Bubble Turret with 2 Heavy Stubbers...10pts

Isn't this what that thunderbolt flyer was for from forge world?

Not really I mean I designed this to be a happy medium between the Lightning and the Thunderbolt. Plus it lacks the bombing capability of the Thunderbolt and can be customised for Air to Air or Air to Ground attacks.

IIRC, the JSF was so called because it was a joint operation between two military companies (hope someone can verify this), as the only 40K military manufacturing industry is the Mechanicum, you might have to think of a better name than the JSF.

Rules wise, this seems like a mix of Thunderbolt and Vulture rules. Asides from the fact that you forgot Hull Points, I would rather just take the Vulture. Your Hellstrikes are unreliable due to the BS3, and I can get a Vulture with 4x Rocket Pods for 30pts cheaper.

In real life JSF stands for Joint Strike Fighter. Many modern day aircraft use this designation. For example the new American F-35 JSF. JSF is a term for an aircraft that can perform both air to air duties and air to ground attacks. As such a Thunder starts with Hellstrike Missiles and Autocannons making more of an air to air threat. But with some options it can become a powerful air to ground threat! P.S I will be adding some more options to it soon!

I don't really know what this plane wants to be. It looks like a toned-down Thudernbolt , that sacrifices armour and firepower for a... -5 pts price drop? or maybe it is a re-shuffled, overpriced Avenger, I don't know .

You should re-set this plane, because otherwise, it will be just a weird Thunderbolt/Avenger mutant. Replace the autocannons with multilasers (or heavy bolters), options for tactical bombs, missile launchers and stuff like that and maybe even the Supersonic USR.

Also, the "Joint" in Joint Strike Fighter really refers to corporate cooperation. But it is OK I guess, as the Thunder could be the product of a group of Hive World arms manufacturers.
