Hey everyone

I am just starting out with hordes and I am playing circle. My girlfriend has spotted the trolls and loves the models. My dilema is, I want to get her a warlock to start painting however I am not totally through reading the rules beyond the basics. Im looking for suggestions on a useful warlock to start with. We want to build up a few models over time and add in as we learn. Im not a fan of the starter kits and also cant dish out that much all at once.

any info or suggestions are welcome.

Tash'var Tau 3034 PTS [W]5[L]11[D]0 'Cadre Carnivores of Tash'var' Completed:47/3034
Tyranids 1400PTS [W]2[L]4[D]1 'Hive Fleet Serpent Wing' Completed: 200/1400
I suck at playing, but I dig the painting!

So if you can't dish out a whole lot of cash at once, buy the Earthborne Dire Troll. With usage, you will get your money's worth out of that beast. As far as warlock, I find Grim Angus to be good and fun. Calandra Truthsayer is also fun for possibly correcting your mistakes.

Really you can't go wrong with any caster. Pick one you like and go with it. Learn that caster and have fun. The beast should be an auto-own for any Troll player. I can't ennumerate the number of times I've been happy with my Earthborne. Him combined with the Dire Troll Mauler (who has a resonably priced plastic kit. some $18 cheaper than the Earthborne, though I would still go with the Earthborne), is rediculous.

Like M14 said, any caster will work... I have limited troll experience, but buy the Battlebox when in doubt!

The battlebox will give you a decent start, but for trolls it isn't great on its own. I like it as an expansion to save a bit of cash. Figure out what looks cool, and just go for it. Warmachine/Hordes is great in that aspect.
