I just got my last model in the mail yesterday, it was Lemartes, Guardian of The Lost in Metal as I will never buy finecast. so I proudly announce that I'm going to do what I said I would do about seven years ago when I started this hobby - MAKE TERRAIN!! I'm planning on a 4X8 table with modular city tiles with buildings based off the Zombies!!! board game. I've built an army of Zombies based off the Apocalypse Formation with Typhus as the Zombie lord. maybe I'll make a tile with the sky shield landing pad as an objective, any suggestions?

...What's wrong with Finecast...?

In absence of Finecast models your best options are probably either Space Marines, Chaos Marines, or Grey Knights in terms of the percentage of plastic models available. You can literally make an entire playable GK army (albeit one that relies on Interceptors and Deep Strike) with parts from two kits if you feel like it.

Terrain is limited only by your imagination. Go do whatever you feel like. I suggest making lots of bridges to make the whole thing feel three-dimensional, but that's just me.

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

There are lots of terrain types that are never used (at leas on my LGS), i think I've never seen a river or an altar on the battlefield, and having those would be pretty cool with the new rules

I don't buy Failcast either and have no problems getting minis. Metal minis sell pretty cheap and strip fantastically. My army is all plastic/metal after my experiences with Failcast. Keep an eye out on Craigslist, trade forums and ebay.

AnomanderRake, my experiences with FC were extensive bubbling, very fragile with bits breaking off to reveal large internal bubbles, rippled surfaces, missing bits and entire areas needing resculpting. I've never purchased a metal mini that was near as bad as the FC I purchased. When I called and got a replacement, even the replacement needed much repair. Metal is cheaper, easier to strip, better quality, consistent and far more durable.

As for the terrain, awesome! You should make a progress thread for it, would be nice to have a good table terrain wip thread.
