I needed an hqwith minimum sized no upgrade cultist on the quad gun, and the dark apostle gives the 2 autocannon teams around the aegis ld 10. I figured this would be helpful to a guard list as I always had morale issues. Anyone have a better idea? I was planning on using a warpsmith for the bs5 quad gun and gets hot alone, but now I see things might change.

So which of these 2 hqs are the better option for Imperial Guard?

10 fearless cultist on the quad gun wouldn't be a bad idea, but keep in mind the Apostle will only affect the cultists, so your Autocannon teams will still be ld7.

CSM units do not confer benfits to IG as they are not battle brothers.


what ig can sue, are good psykers or decked out combat characters.

plague marines and chaos bikes are also nice, things that have resilience which guard lacks.

Two vet squads with 3 x either Melta or Plasma. Put em in Chimeras and give them a Psyker with the 2d6 hits lightning spell. Useful, and extremely shooty.
