In the process of organizing a canned-food drive event / tournament at the LGS in time for the holiday season and winter months... and could really use / appreciate input from the 40K community.
Cans will get exchanged for player tokens prior to (and throughout) the tournament - in some cases cans will be worth more than one token = bigger cans / more tokens. Players may spend their tokens to unlock game effects... as an example one token can be used to gain a re-roll. Stay tuned for updates as other effects are added.
= Pre Game ( List Building ) Effects =
10 Tokens = for every, add one FOC slot / HQ
10 Tokens = for every, add one FOC slot / Troop
10 Tokens = for every, add one FOC slot / Elite
10 Tokens = for every, add one FOC slot / Fast Attack
10 Tokens = for every, add one FOC slot / Heavy Support
05 Tokens = nominated Psyker gains +1 to his or her Mastery Level
10 Tokens = nominated non-Psyker model becomes a Mastery Level 1 Psyker
- the two effects listed above can be combined, meaning a Dark Eldar Hekatrix could become a Mastery Level 2 Psyker. Non-Psyker models that become Psykers using the second option manifest their power(s) from any of the Psychic Disciplines in the core rulebook.
15 Tokens = give any unit a SM / CSM Rhino (no upgrades) as a dedicated transport
50 Tokens = give any unit a SM / CSM Land Raider (no upgrades) as a dedicated transport
- the normal rules for these transports are still in effect,
whereas Terminators for example cannot embark in a Rhino
20 Tokens = nominated dedicated transport gains the Special Rule: Assault Vehicle
75 Tokens = select any other single model HQ choice, and add it to your army
- the model is considered to be friendly for all intents and purposes
- replace any army specific wording to match your army
- the model may be your army warlord if normal conditions are met
- the model does not occupy an FOC slot
- regardless of base / options / upgrades the model becomes 000 points

01 Tokens = reroll #1 per game
02 Tokens = reroll #2 per game
03 Tokens = reroll #3 per game
04 Tokens = reroll #4 per game
05 Tokens = reroll #5 per game
- any one of 'your' die rolls can be rerolled at the cost of the tokens listed above. This can include for example Seize The Initiative, an attack roll, or a Leadership test (both dice could be rerolled at the cost of three tokens - as your 1st and 2nd reroll of the game. Things like Night Fight and End Game are not 'your' roll so as such they cannot be rerolled.
