I'm sorry if I am just being thick but I can't seem to figure out exactly what exalting a post does. Would anyone be willing to explain or link to an explanation?

There is currently no publicly available feature which gives any real meaning to the post exalt button. From what Lego has said in the past it is being monitored to see how people use it before anything is put into place.

Most exalted threads can be seen in the appropriate "top theads" option though.
