I added some CSM allies to my Orkz and, due to my unfamiliarity with all things power armory, I have some questions about it.

1. Are the buffs from the various chaos marks already added into the stat line of the 4 aligned elites choices (Noise marines, etc.)? So are Plague Marines T5 with the mark or T5 and then you add the marks ability to bring them to T6?

2. With Chosen, the dex says, "up to 4 models may choose one of the 4 options". Was this written correctly? Can I really not ever give a chosen a plasma pistol and a power weapon? If I add 5 more chosen do they just have to be vanilla if I have already used my 4 options (5 with the boltgun for heavy weapon option at the bottom of the list)? I'm failing to see why I would take chosen. +1A and +1LD for 5 more points a model? There seem to be much better options on either the CC or Shooty side of things than these guys. Maybe I'm wrong.

Random Questions

3. I'm thinking of using Gnoblar Fighters from fantasy as Gretchin for more Orkz. Is this a generally acceptable practice? Would I be allowed to use them in most tournament settings?

4. How should I deal with the Doom of Malan'tai? If I can't get an ID wound through do I just run away?

Units/Models that have a Mark already on them (special characters, cult marines, etc) have the effect of the mark already included in their stat line. So Plague Marines at T5.

Correct.

Because ablative wounds can be useful to protect the specialists considering the new way the wounds are suffered when being shot at. It's the same reason you see people taking 10-man Havoc squads.

No idea. Compare the sizes of gnoblars and grots and see if there is a disctinct modeling advantage. If they are about the same size and are WYSIWYG then I don't think there will be a big problem.

4. How should I deal with the Doom of Malan'tai? If I can't get an ID wound through do I just run away?

Shoot it a bunch. It only has a 3++ save. ID weapons are good, but you can still just flood the thing with small-arms fire.

Thanks Nungunz. I've compared Gnoblars to Gretchin and they are close enough to the same size that I really can't tell a difference. The models don't have guns or traditional ranged weapons on them (they do have various broken bottles and slings though).

Then you'll probably have the chance to make some interesting conversions. It's not hard to make those small guns from piecies of plastic or metal tubing and chunks of sprues.

Past 6 chosen(1 champion 4 special 1 heavy) the rest need to be vanilla woundcatchers.

From Kelly's DE codex, +1 attack and Ld is worth 3 points(bloodbrides and trueborn) then chosen come with a CC weapon standard, so that is 5 points on the dot.

Combat chosen are too expensive, all the power weapons and lightning claws just get too expensive too quickly. The Special weapons are where it is at. You can have 5 plasma guns or 5 melta guns on something that doesnt take a HS choice. They also can charge in after their shots so long as they werent plasma and have 4 attacks on the charge finishing whatever off.

I think they are situational unless you took abby to make them troops, but still one of the better things in the elites slot. I would only rank plague maines and terminators higher.

Another random question: Can I tank shock (in my case deff roll) a fortification such as a bastion?
