They are here, although we have one coming up with no fortifications.

Generally yes, tournaments allow allies. This is mainly because as a whole, allies is not a particularly powerful mechanic, and while people do still experiment with allies, there have yet to be any allies combinations that are particularly back-breaking, and in most cases taking allies is actually worse than just focusing on units from your own codex.

Most are allowing them. Our yearly bar tournament, Granite city Waaaghfest, is allowing them and fortifications but not fortress of redemption or sky shield because we have a lot of there'd tables and we don't want people to move terrain.

Well, it depends. Generally, allies should be allowed. But you pay a tax if you field an ally detachment. Therefore, its only worth in larger pt games (say 1750+ pts).

The first tournament my local store ran didn't allow allies so that people could get used to 6th edition before some of the crazy stuff came out, but since then they have been permitted.

The tournaments in my area have been allowing them, even had a 2k tournament recently that required them just to see what everyone would do with them.

I recently did the UK Doubles at Warhammer World. They allowed Fortifications and Allies within my own force giving a possible 4 different armies.. So my partner took Guard, and I took Marines and Grey Knights.
