I am attempting to build a Chaos Marine list. I have been playing off and on sense 3rd ed. What I am wanting to know is what kind of units should be competative against my common enemies. They are a green tide led by Gaz, a termie based GK list led by a libby and Coteaz, Vulkan Sallies, both an infantry heavy IG army and a vehicle heavy IG army, and possibly crons and space wolves. Personally I am a fan of Typhus and nurgle units in general. We are playing at 2000 points and I have a decent 3k list put together for a Typhus/Epidemius combo when we get to that points level. What I need is something competstive but not something that will be too brutal. The rest of my frienfds are rookie players and I dont want to arbitrarily beat them because of a superior army list. Any and all help would be appreciated.

Plaguemarines with plasmas are always nice, and effective.
You can do zombie hordes with typhus for a fun/ pseudo competitive game ( the more zombies the more effective)

I'm loving the Heldrake with Baleflamer. Been running 2 of those and might break down to buy a 3rd

I know that I want one Heldrake as the ork player runs a dakkajet and I have seen that thing eat light armor all over the place while it zooms around avoiding shots.

Try not to write your list to specifically counter your opponents. That can be interpreted as pretty cheap, and is called "list tailoring". Just write a list that will be good all around, and outplay your opponents, rather than out-listwrite them.

I'd take 2 Heldrakes/baleflamer and an ADL with Quad gun.

That's the start of what I feel is a potentially nasty list ^^

I dont want really nasty exactly. Also, I just think that the Heldrake is effective in an all comers army and it makes a good foil for the dakkajet. I do like Plague marines as objective holders due to the fact that they wont die and the plasma helps out against all the 2+ saves Im likely to face.

Well, competitive units (pts vs. cost) are: Lord, Sorcerer, Chaos Space Marines, Bikes, Spawns, and Helldrakes. In general, HS needs to be maxed out first.
