Gibbering Horde of Chaos

Hey Ladies and Gents, First time posting on here

Ive started an army of Traitor Guardsmen; Khorne worshippers, along with some Iron Warriors chaos marines (which if I'm correct, I can now field alongside my traitors using the 6th ed allies rules?) which will probably be two squads of marines and a Warpsmith, plus a Vindicator or two. My eventual aim is to chaosify every unit in the Imperial Guard codex (excluding special characters) for this army, so this is going to be a very expensive (and fun!) adventure

not sure what else to say so, heres where I'm at at the moment:

Traitor Captain:

The first member of my command squad, joined by a Bannerman, Heavy Flamer, Plasma Gunner and perhaps a MeltaGunner or a medic when i decide on the final member. he is made from one of the squad leaders from the Dark Vengeance cultists, but with a Marauder head (+ Greenstuff to fill it in) and plasma pistol added

Psyker:

aaaand heres the other cultist leader, now a rogue psyker for my army.

Cultists:

Coulnt resist picking these guys up when Dark Vengeance came out. They probably won't stay as cultists but will be mingled in with the other troopers, I have already converted a few of them (not in this photo) and the rest arent painted yet

Troopers:

The beginnings of my Traitors, they arent much yet but give it a few more boxes and some tanks and i'll be on my way to a fleshed out traitor army. the heavy flamer is for the command squad and the snipers are for a special weapon squad

Preists + 1st Veteran:

I didnt know how to make use of some of the close combat cultists in my army, but after flicking through the codex a few times I settled on Preist conversions. So went through my Chaos Marine spares for some ChainSwords and gave them eviscerators prosthetics, I think one looks priestly to begin with, and the other looks like some mad experiment, brilliant. The veteran is another cutist, with the leaders shotgun currently, hes quite WIP as Im unsure what would be a suitable other arm for him

Armoured Sentinel:

my first traitor sentinel. handpainted the icon on. Hopefully this will be the first in a couple of squads of three.

Thunderbolt Fighter:

This models a couple of years old now (still needs the rears of the engines added...). I scratchbuilt this from plasticard because frankly FW's prices take the biscuit, and the cake, and are still hungry even after that. still quite proud of it though

Iron Warriors:

The first of my Iron Warriors. the one with the claw/flamer-fist is more for show than actual use

Servitor:

And my 1st Servitor (of two currently. only made the second today so no pics yet). Armed with Multi Melta, these guys will be accompanying a Traitor Techpriest (my next buy) into battle. I think the bulk is more fitting of a heavy weapon than the normal servitors

The Chaos Marines + servitor also mark the start of me basing my models (as i finally found a place that does decent fine gravel). Still gotta base the Guardsmen

Theyre made by Anarchy Models, you get a decent bag of them for only a few quid (probs a hundred of them in, mixed sizes too) plus made from clear coloured resin so they are pretty durable too

Army Snaps!!! Techpriest!!! Almost Legal Army!!!

Dark Mechanicus Techpriest + Praetorian Heavy-Weapon Servitors:

Only a simple conversion, carefully sawing the axe head off and replacing it with a trimmed up Ogre sword to make the scythe (im really getting my moneys worth with these servitors!) but I thought with the dark paintjob it certainly didn't look very Imperial anymore

The Traitor Guard Pile:

All the guardsmen i've been converting the last week, plus the ones with FW bits shown already, all basecoated and some with a couple other colours, still all unfinished however

Obligatory Army Shots:

Everything so far, with the Thunderbolt on the bed because the bedside tables a little too small for this xD

And after counting, the army stands at about 63 models including the thunderbolt + sentinels. not brilliant, but not bad for just a couple of weeks work (now to get them painted!) going out to a local wargaming club tonight, and since they do 10% off Games Workshop i'll see about maybe getting a Hellhound or a Leman Russ Demolisher kit while i'm there.

Also for another platoon of guard, I'd like to go nurgle themed. so far my ideas include a Conscript unit of Zombies, and a Banewolf themed on the Plaguereaper (Nurgle Baneblade), so when I get the chance to get hold of a mass tonne of Mantic zombies on the cheap, expect to see me start that platoon alongside the main Khorne ones

For now, to make this a legal army I need:

2 Command Squads - one for each platoon
Another unit of Iron Warriors
an Iron Warriors Warpsmith for their HQ

The traitor captain is great! Makes me want to convert one myself.

go for it

post-thursday game-night, had a 2-on-2 game with my not QUITE legal army (which i realised with most of the upgrades modelled on them, is already about 790 points of stuff, including the Thunderbolt too cos one of the guys there had the rules for it)

Traitors and Necrons vs Tau and Salamanders
Victory: Tau

though we lost, my model of the match goes to either the Autocannon sentinel (the unpainted one) which took out both the Tau players hammerhead and skyray (before he massed all his fire on it) or the Primaris Psyker, which took out a full squad of kroot over the game with psychic powers and making the last 3 models run off the board

in modelling news, after talking to the Shop owner about Instantmold last week, he looked into it and decided to start stocking it, since i suggested it he sold it me on a discount for just £8 (instead of £12) for a packet, and threw in £6 worth of green stuff too! I'm a happy chap after last night. had a cadian torso and a finecast iron warrior head cast in it so far, let them cure overnight and the qualitys way better than i was expecting!

"There are unsettling rumours about low moaning coming from where the new conscript platoon is stationed across the other side of the camp... one of the troops even swore he saw one eating another. a couple of the other Khorne traitors have disappeared too. it cant be just a co-incidence, can it?"

Soon after:

"Those damned fools. After the last men to check out the new meat didnt return, a pair of them went to see whats up themselves. took an imaging-servitor with them too, last shot we got from it was this. What in the unholy gods is the captain playing at creating these monsters!?"

Yep, started my Zombie Conscript unit, theres now a second one painted up too since these were taken.

The dude with mixed-paintjobs torso is just painted green too by the way, however the one with the Vox caster, has the first of my new cast torso's, made with Instant Mold (tutorial to follow when I can get any decent photos for it. I've tried two or three times now and each time the light catches too much on the clear Instant Mold gel :stare: )

as a comparison of the end result however:

personally I think the details pretty crisp on the cast ones obviously its not perfect, and really thin peices or awkward shapes are VERY difficult to cast with it, but for simple peices like extra torso's, heads, heavy weapons, etc its perfect for making a few extra

oh, and the zombie bits are from Mantic Games
