Howdy all,

So this thread will detail 3 games I had today using my skorne in a 50 pt steamroller at our local convention hall. I played against Kromac, Rahn, and Lord Carver. Ill have full reps up later! The lists I took to this event:

EHexeris (-6)
- tiberion
- gladis
- bronzeback
- cyclops brute (bonded)
- basilisk krea
Max nihilators
Min beasthandlers
Agonizer
2x voidspirits
Extoller

Pmakeda
- molik karn
- archidon
- titan gladi
Max swords w/ ua
Max nihilators
Min beasthandlers
Tycom
Voidspirit
Orin midwinter
Gobbers

Game 1
Mission: Steamroller mission with the 2 monolith destroy objectives

My opponent had an eKaya list and Kromac list. I picked eHexy and he picked Kromac. He had the following (from memory):

Kromac
- Gharlhorn
- Ghetorix
- Stalker
- Gorax
Blackclad
Druids w/ UA
Stones w/ UA
Min Skinwalkers

Pregame thoughts: Shouldn't be too hard... he hits hard, so do I. I feel I have more survivability, however, and my buffs/debuffs will make it hard for him to hurt me. I just need to watch out for a Kromac assassination.

I lose the roll off, and my opponent forces me to deploy first. I deploy centrally, both voids on my left, all 3 heavies with support and Hex in the mid, and Extoller on my right. Aggy is sitting near the Krea and behind my heavies. He deploys centrally with his heavies, and AD's his druids facing my voids, and stones spread out.

T1 and T2 were mostly jockying for position. His stalker combined with his gnarlhorn (and terrible tough rolls on my part) sees my Nihilators wiped to a man. His druids also kill 1 void off. However, i get into a nice brick formation, with a fully charged agonizer and Tiberion sitting with ashen veil on him in the middle. Hexy stays back some. My void gets in, hits, and kills 3 druids with his first cloud!

T3 is where things get good, I pop aggys cries, ready for an imminent Ghetorix/Gnarlhorn charge into my heavies. I move the titans in a tight formation so Veil will effect anyone who comes close to my titans. Void got lucky last turn and my opponent forgets he was unincorpreal, so once again, goes into the back of a druid and kills off 2 or 3 more. Woot! Hes left with 2 druids at this point (leader and UA). I also wipe all but 1 skinwalker with BB. He retaliates, charging my big blob of titans after primaling both Ghetorix and his Gnarlhorn. Due to Veil and Aggy, his buffs basically negated, and some bad rolls sees him either miss or do minimal damage. His stalker jockeys for position, I'm unsure what hes trying... he kills the brute and sprints. My last void dies. His blackclad moves to where he can charge the extoller/monolith next turn.

T4 I destroy his Gnarlhorn and Ghetorix. His stalker loses 2 aspects and is left with just a few boxes. Extoller ***** slaps blackclad down (I even forgot to reap souls when my nihilators died). Aggy keeps on cryin. Hexy blasts a few things, then feats to go back to full camp. Kromac goes beast on his turn. His stalker warps over, but then he realizes he forgot to heal his aspects... he whiffs horribly on Hexy. Kromac moves up, and leaps to hexy. He sits there thinking a few minutes.. then decides to camp his 5 fury (he had to cut to full, used a couple for something, as I drained what fury he had with hexys feat). Guess he figured even with a possible 12 fury he may not be able to kill hexy. His druids had to move me to get to me. Thats about it.

T5 Tibbers charges his wilder, smashing her. This leaves him in range of Gorax with his Tetsubo... GG gorax. Gladis turns around and finishes his stalker. All thats left is for Hexy and BB to smash Kromac with nowhere for him to transfer to...

I win this one with 45 VP's, 0 CP's, and win by assassination.

Afterthoughts: This one could have went badly there on T4. Had Kromac gone first, healed his stalker, and did his thing, I don't think Hexy would have had enough transfers to last. However, rolls could have factored hugely, as hexy sitting at effective Def 17 (he had ashen vale on him) is really hard to hit! I forgot to mention that how I assassinated Kromac required me to boost a blackspot onto him, charge a krea and animus him, and then the BB came in. -4 Def is huge... I'm loving hexy with other debuffing models, it can turn scary monsters into squishy ones in no time flat! Ashen Veil seems to be one of my go-to spells with Hexy. Its a HUGE boon, and the fact it effects anyone within 2" of the model effected is crazy good with good placement. Aggy + Veil + Krea + BS = a possible -4 def, -2 damage, -2 mat, and -2 arm to a model... pwned!

MVP this game: eHexy + Aggy - ultimate debuffers extraordinaire!

Game 2
Mission: 3 flags in middle mission with 1 disappearing

He had a Kaelyssa list and Rahn list... I wasn't familiar with either, so I went ahead and picked eHexy again. He picked Rahn. His list was:

Rahn
- Discordia
- Hyperion
- Some other light arcnode
Arcanist
Sylys
eEiryss
Some large mage with giant fists (solo)
2x smaller mages with large fists (solo)
Max Mages
4x archers with AOE arrows

Pregame thoughts: No idea what his armies "deal" is... My guess is he tries to push/pull targets around to allow for Hyperion to lay waste. This mission favors him, but I feel my list can take care of a single colossal and 2 jacks easily... first game vs ret!

he wins the roll off and lets me go first. I know hes gonna blast me to death, but the scenerio favors the second player it seems... I deploy the same as last game. He deploys centrally with his jacks and Hyperion, his supports + rahn behind them, eiryss on my right, and his archers + mages on my left. He splits his mage solos to both sides.

T1 sees me running a lot, allocating to aggy, and casting veil on the nihilators through my brute. He runs up, takes a few pot shots, but mostly inconsequential. T2 the Nihilators charge Eiryss, but only 1 makes it to her, and misses. My blob trucks forward, I drop veil and put it on Hexy (seeing as concealment effects magic attacks) and pop the Kreas animus. I also pop aggys no focus and run him into range of his jacks. T2 he clobbers aggy, takes a few shots, and drops the Kreas animus with eiryss. He also wipes out both voids and my beasthandlers (damn aoe archers). His mages on my right kill a few nihilators, and discordia helps.

T3 I charge hyperion with Tiberion, dropping his shield, but I roll baddddly. Nihilators charge all his solos on my right, wiping them all out. I also engage the discordia with a couple. Gladis fails his charge on hyperion by about an inch... oops. BB toodles around. Extoller hits hyperion, but heres where I realize he doesn't effect non-living models... damnit! His T3 is brutal. He rolls stupidly well for hyperions damage and kills tiberion AND knocks my gladis to 1 box. He kills the Krea with some good shooting, and hurts the BB pretty good. He kills 1 nihilator, but I'm able to score at the end of this turn. Gladis does die at the end here...

T4 doesnt look good at all... I have an extoller, hexy at full, bronzeback, my brute, and half my nihilators left... ugh. Nihilators charge the discordia, but I roll badly, and he loses his shield and a few boxes. Brute charges his hyperion just cuz and does squat. Hexy goes to attempt an assassination on Rahn, but I'm out by 2" for hellfire... damnit! Bronzeback goes crazy and wipes out a couple archers, his mage solo, and 3 mages with train wreck. I also popped Hexys feat in preparation of the asskicking hyperion is probably gonna give me...

Hyperion walks up to Hexy, and begins his sweeps. The brute forces him to reroll against him once, making him miss, so the brute is mostly unscathed. Hexy, being def 15, Hyperion misses his boosted attack! The BB takes a few small hits, and a few more nihilators die.

T5 I see an opening. Hexy walks around Hyperion some, and kills off 2 or 3 archers, healing the BB some. Brute flubs, and nihilators keep tying up the discordia to stop him. BB kills the last contesting mage and scores me my second point!

At this point my opponent knows he has to kill Hexy to win. He runs his last mage to contest the BB's point. Rahn boosts a TK on hexy and moves him so his backs facing Hyperion. Hyperion then swings... and misses! He buys an attack, swings, hits, and scores a good hit, but I transfer it all to the brute and he dies outright. More nihilators die....

T6 I don't see much I can do... I have a BB, extoller, and hexy. I'm camping full fury, no feat, and I don't see any hope of escaping Hyperions clutches... so I take a gamble and charge my BB into hyperion. After 4 fury used, Hyperion bites it! Wow, the BB is a beast lol. Hexy kills his last couple archers, and I await my fate.

He charges in Rahn on full camp, but he needs 9's to hit... he boosts 2 attacks, gets no crits, and does minimal damage rolling at -4. He then buys an attack, boosts, and rolls... trip 1's. Buys an attack, swings... misses. Hexy is at 4 boxes on full fury, so theres no way he could kill me anyway, so he concedes.

Afterthoughts: WOWZA! I thought he had it from T3 on, but Hexy held on, even though it was with the help of a few bad rolls. But hell, swinging at Mat 6 against Def 15 you can't always bank on it lol. Hexy once again proved to be a very resiliant caster, and the BB was amazing this game. Hes proving to be a toolbox monster, between trainwrecking through units, or making sure something dies when I need it to. This game showed the folley of overextending yourself and misjudging ranges. I think I was just so worried I was making a lot of dumb mistakes... hyperion is a truly terrifying force! Next time I know; apply bronzeback ASAP lol.

MVP this game: eHexy - taking hits like a champ!

Game 3
Mission: Mission with 2 large control areas, your warlock must be in a zone to score.

I was facing dual pigs (Magnus and Carver). Reading his lists I see he has a bit of infantry, and lots of heavy beasts... I feel I need armor cracking, so I pick eHexy again lol His list from memory:

Lord Carver
- Light pig with cannon
- War Hog (heavy w/ dual axes?)
- War Hog
6x Slaughterhousers
10x Shooty pigs
Saxon Orrox
Rorsh + Brine
2x Artillery pig squads
Gundrun

Pregame thoughts: Not too worried this game, after asking a few questions, I feel my high str and high armor will get me through this one. However, his incredibly high arm with batton kind of worries me... This is my first time facing pigs and a lesser warlock! But coming off a slaughter (game 1) and a near loss (game 2) I'm feeling confident I can best this challanger!

I win the roll off and have my opponent go first; this way, with his AD, he won't be close enough for T1 shots at me with those cannons and stuff. He deploys centrally with his heavies, his units and saxon on his left, brine and cannons on his right. I repeat the same deployment as before... as hes set up basically for it lol.

T1 sees him run up a lot. T1 sees me running to meet him, veiling the nihilators.

T2 he tries to cannon aggy, but whiffs, and CRA's a few nihilators (I make tough tho). My T2 I kill gundrun after a few nihilators walk in, and all hit. Gundrun goes drunkmode, so hexy puts an ashes on my nihilators, knocking over a couple, and finally killing him (bad tough rolls). Both voids charge Rorsh, but one misses, and even rolling 4d6, I only put 12 or so damage on brine. My brick moves up, about 15" from his frontline.

T3 his bombardment on Aggy continues, but he misses still. His pigs CRA down a few more nihilators, but toughs made. Slaughterhouses reposition. His heavies and carver move up, around 9" from my front. Brine turns around and kills both voids, then they move into a farmfield. My T3 I see a lot of openings, and oblige my opponent overextending. Hexy goes first, casting rush on all 3 heavies. He then moves up a little. Beasthandlers enrage all 3 titans. Next, Bronzeback charges Rorsh, and it only takes 1 fury and all 3 initials, and hes dead. Brine does his final attack, fails, and dies as well. Tiberion charges both his heavies, I roll badly for damage, and barely kill 1. Gladis charges his light, and leaves it with 1 box left. Krea tries to finish him, but rolls badly for damage (arm 20 on a lights rough!). Nihilators move up to engage as many pig gunners as they can. The few that can attack kill a couple.

T4 he pops his feat. Don't have to go into it much, but: 4 nihilators die, krea dies, gladis is left with a few boxes, tiberion dies, and aggy dies. Hes in a good position to try for hexy next turn. I start this turn charging the BB into his last heavy, killing it. Hexy charges his slaughterhousers, and kills 2, toughing the last. He pops feat after veiling himself and healing gladis, and sits on full camp (thanks BB and gladis!). Gladis, now with his aspects back, finally downs the light. Nihilators start going to town, and bad tough rolls for him, sees him with just 3 pigs left against 4 nihilators. I also kill the slaughterhousers down to 1 toughed guy and 1 other.

T5 he examines the board... he can kill the nihilators, but carvers in a bad spot, and he needs to kill hexy or try and run. He decides to try for the kill. He sends in the slaughterhousers, but realizes his mistake as hexy is at full boxes. He takes his swings, but whatever damage he does I xfer to the BB (who is at full). Carver comes up, tries his luck, but cannot seem to connect on hexy (yay high def!). My turn I kill off whatever i can for points, and put carver into the dirt.

Afterthoughts: Hexy man... friggin beast. This game I actually remembered to heal things when they died, this helped a lot in keeping my beasts alive. Top it off with my opponent underestimating my threat ranges, made for a brutally messy game. My titans were effing up stuff left and right, and the nihilators were completely holding up half the board as I actually started making tough rolls lol. Such a fun game!

MVP this game: I'd have to say the BB... he killed the minion lock, a warhog, and would have killed carver if hexy failed.

So things I learned in these matches:
- Hexy is a beast. He can take a hit, and give it right back. Combine his great defensive abilities, with his awesome statline, and he keeps on trucking. Hexy is one caster you CANNOT fail an assassination on, because theres a good chance he will heal up a ton and make you pay for failure.
- Hexy's list likes to debuff opponents, so anything with the ability to assist with this, is good. The krea meshed really well here!
- Extollers are a good support solo, but remember they gain souls in THEIR COMMAND RANGE.... out of all 3 games i never gained a soul :(
- Agonizer with Hexy = dreamboat. These two work super well together to keep heavy beasts alive against both hordes and warmachine armies.
- Voidspirits in game 1 were great, game 2 they died horribly, and game 3 they didn't do much as I forgot that minion warlocks could transfer... however, I think I misused them in game 2, and game 3 I had an oversight. I'll keep trying em, as I do love the models and love having incorp models as people rarely bring things to combat them when facing skorne.
- Tiberion, Bronzeback, and Gladis are a trio not to be trifled with. These guys tore it up, and other than game 2, they made my opponents pay time and time again. Now I see why we're a heavy beast faction!
- Nihilators are awesome jammers, but their damage output is kind of meh especially against tough units and anything with a decent arm/def. However, I was trying to hurt stuff with these guys, instead of treating them as a tarpit, which I learned quickly. These guys don't do the damage output of swordsmen, so don't expect them to!
- Beasthandlers are probably the best utility unit we have. If theres one thing I can tell any Skorne player is that we ARE a heavy beast faction; we should have at least 2 in any list we field, and we're good at it.

I was amazed how well the list fared in a varied field, facing 3 completely different armies. Game 2 was luck based, as a couple good dice could have ended it at any time, but the same goes for my way as I was rolling terribly for a bit there til the end. I look forward to more games in the future... but first I gotta buy up the models I borrowed to play the hexy list

Awesome, well written, and easy to follow reports! Good to see Skorne tearing it up on the table! Those debuffs you were throwing out were insane. It almost makes me want to go out and get an agonizer even though I hate the model.
