Hi dakka, I'm already playing IG for a long time, but i wanted to do an armor division with veteran, but the problem i got with this list its unfluffy( IMO). So i will work on some conversion but wasn't sure on which theme to go on:
My first one was to do conversion with the empire fantasy kit, doing some sort of high noble regiment.
My second one was a inquisition force, with kitbash of men at arms and other kind of fanatic imperium stuff.
My third one was going for tallarn or steel legion( any conversion, since I hate metal).
Or going with an environnemental suite like the forge world upgrade kit too represent trained soldier.
Last one , since I'm from Canada, an armored company that work in cold condition!!
Anything you think would be really cool in those ideas or any other one?

I really like the cold weather idea, it's very creative. Using some forgeworld hostile environment kits and some conversions it could be very cool.

I do think vet mech can be fluffy, BUT, you need a fluff around it. Because i see people taking cadian and sticking them plasma gun and thats it. I do feel that vet need some personnalisation on them and an history around them, because they're like sternguard, do they look like normal marines ?hell no! I'm loving too much fluff and in my local hobby store, people are doing more fun list and fluffy list then power play:OBut I always loved the ig mech leafblower so i needed an idea.

I think the novel Cadian Blood makes Mech Vets pretty fluffy.

It shouldn't be hard to build a fluffy Mech Guard list.
Pack your CCS into a Chimera, give your Vets Demolitions and load them into Chimeras, and support them with things like Medusas and Hellhounds. You end up with a fast moving mechanized strike force that is perfectly equipped to either exploit breakthroughs made by foot regiments, or speed into position to counterattack enemy breakthroughs.
Or you make them all Catachans loaded entirely into Chimeras (which are amphibious), supported by a pair of Vendettas and you end up with a raiding force capable of moving and striking effectively in marshes, swamps, and riverine environments.
Or build them as an Air Assault element. Put big slingloading lugs on all your Chimeras, back it up with Scout Sentinels with Grav Chutes and Medusas and Griffons with slingloading lugs, and Bob's your uncle.
Another option would be loading all the vehicles with extra fuel and equipment containers and extra long range communication gear and modeling the force as a forward recon element of a much larger force.
Really, anything that focuses on your formation being something other than just another Mechanized Infantry Company and demonstrates that they are an purpose assembled task force would work.
Having them be regular troops kitted out for harsh environment combat doesn't really justify them being Veterans. If you're doing line infantry in hazardous environment gear, you'd be better served with Infantry Platoons in Chimeras, leaving behind the Heavy Weapon and Special Weapon Squads.

The only guardmen book i read was ghost of tanith
What i was on planning to do is to take cadian torso and lasgun, taking high elf leg(archer), taking necron warrior head, and doing some greenstuff on the head to do some kinds of army of two style.
Or I could take forge world stuff or warpath storm trooper( if i'm getting the right company) Automatically Appended Next Post: I understand your point but I just want a nice looking army, so yeah I know that some of idea myth be weird, but i'll come with an idea later with it come too modelling. I kind of love youre recon force thank!

If you're looking into Forge World stuff, the Death Korps models actually make pretty darned good Armageddon Steel Legion, who are all about 100%-mechanized forces if you read up on their fluff.
