A friend of mine wants to make a Death Company Contemptor Dread. Basically carrying over the Death Comany rules from the normal BA codex and applying them to the BA Contemptor in the Apoc 2nd Ed book.
Looking at the rules for the 2 combined it looks pretty scary.
Am i right in thinking that Blood Talons are now Ap3?
So the death Company Contemptor would get 5 attacks on the charge at S7, AP3, re-rolls to wound.....and each unsaved wound generates an extra attack?!?!
crikey. Anything less than terminators or other walkers best keep their distance, and even then the Contemptor has Av13 and a 6++ to save itself with!

...I suppose you could, but it'd end up being pretty darned expensive (175pts at least), and It wouldn't work particularly well given its severe vulnerability to power fists and the fact that the Contemptor's shielding is better at protecting a shooty unit than a close combat unit. If you're going to make this unit, probably make it 0-1 since the Contemptor frame is pretty rare.

It comes in at 200 points (he's including a heavy flamer and a melta).
While it is vulnerabel to powerfists that is dependant on the powerfist surviving, all its attacks are at I4 so in a MEQ squad it is likely to wipe everyone out before the powerfist gets a chance to strike.
As far as i can see the only way to reliably kill it would be to shoot it or take it in CC with a unit that can survive its rush of attacks and then hit back with something powerful (chain fist terminator for example).
just to make it more fun, hsi plan it to strap it to the back of a Storm Raben and have it accompanied by a squad of Death Company marines.
Vindicators required i think.

Was assuming Terminators or a squad large enough for a hidden powerfist to survive (Black Templar Crusaders, IG blob squad, that sort of thing). May need ordnance otherwise.

I suppose a squad of Wraiths with a D-Lord could do it. Wraiths lower the dread to I1 and thr D-lord carves it up with the warscythe.
