Title says it all. What do you think about the Scrolls of Magnus from the Chaos Marines codex?

I personally love it, although it's insanely expensive. The sheer number of options it can give your sorcerer is wonderful, although you've almost got to be ML3 in order to take full advantage of your powers.

Overall, probably not too competitive, considering the randomness of it, but god damn is it fun.

Slaneesh may seem fun now, but when you find yourself in bed with a he-goat and several implements of pain, you'll know you've gone too far. -Emperor's Faithful

"Feel the Emperor's judgement, Azrael!"
"Oooh, yes! Purge me! Purge me!" -Cheese Elemental

I find it awful, and this is not just internet hyperbole.

It may be fine if you like randomness and inefficiency for their own sake, or think the Weirdboy and the Shock Attack Gun are the best in game design ever. As an actual thing to be used, though, it is terrible.

It will kill a regular sorcerer in 3-4 turns on average and has very large odds of not giving you good powers for your current situation...or good powers at all.

The fact that you can't even default to a primaris already removes many of the reasons to take it at all: no, you are never getting re-rolls to hit on your Thousand Sons.

The only safe way to get it is to make your model even more expensive: Put it on a bike for T5 or get a sigil for a good invul save, at which point you have such a point sink it will likely never make its value back in usefulness.

In Boxing matches, you actually get paid to take a dive and make the other guy look good.

In Warhammer 40K, you're expected to pay cash out of your pocket for the privilege of having Marines and IG trample all over your Xenos/Chaos.

It's very expensive, but it is fun, and works great on a level 3 sorcerer with sigil and MOT. Simply add to a large unit and cast away. Giving your sorcerer a gift as well, since the only things he can get are good things.
