Looking at my tac squad sprues, I noticed I only have a few of the special weapons... The flamer, melta, plasma gun, and the missile launcher. No lascannon, multimelta, or plasma cannon. And for the sergeant, no combiweapons, no power weapon, no storm Bolter, no power fist. Is this normal? If so, where would I get my extra weapons? Do I have to buy them straight, or can they be provided by other kits? I honestly just want to have at least one copy of what can be given to all squads for magnetizing purposes.

Perfectly normal. If you want the other heavies I'd buy a devastator squad box.

to add, combi weapons can be found on the commander's set (IIRC has all options except thunder hammer, storm shield, and second lightning claw) or veteran upgrade sets (which does come with a pair of lighting claws, I believe this is the only way to get combi-flamers), or veteran squad (comes with a bunch of weapons including special CCWs and combi weapons.

combat shield can only be found in the DA vet squad, assault squad, or regular command squad

IIRC, assault squads and dev squads come with power fists

This is all normal. GW has millions of kits (haha millions) that dont come with half of what the unit is able to take. If you want your unit to look right it is usually going to cost you unless you have a friend or a member of you local club that has the spares.

It's worth noting that the devastator box had more guns then bodies. One box will yield 2xLC, 2xPC, 2xHB, 1xMM, 1xML. Plus some sarge bits (but nothing outstanding) One box should give you enough variety in weapons for most lists.

It's nice that you get melta and plasma guns in the basic tac box these days. We used to just get flamers, and had to look elsewhere for the upgrades.

If you want fully tricked out sergeants, the commander box is probably your go-to place. Combi weapons are one of the better sarge upgrades, and one of the hardest to find. You might want to look into 3rd party options, there are a bunch of nice looking ones out there. Or kit-bash your own.
