Looking at stuff like dark heracy, rogue trader ish kind of books, think they'd make good MMORPG's? Or action games? or like stand alone RPG's? Or maybe some sort of RTS?

Just curious

well we can use common sense for some of these.

Rogue Trader (the RPG book, not the 1st edition) would make for a horrible RTS but make for any interesting action game.

All those RPG books would make good Action games which could be an RPG (obviously)

If you can make a good RPG out of it you have the potentional to make a good MMORPG.

Simply put its all kind of straight foward what type of book would translate well into what type of game

If you ask me, 40k would make a fantastic game, we're you to make it similar to ArmA 2.
Seriously, custom maps where you could experience something akin to the actual tabletop game from first person? I would pay 60 buckers for that.

Imperial Guard (and friends) fighting for the Greater Good.

I would honestly pay $60 for an Imperial Guard Simulator if it was similar to the ArmA type games. OK, maybe not realistic but the large open world type stuff. That would make a bad-ass game, multiplayer games simulating table-top games.

Someone actually made a Warhammer 40k Mod for Operation Flashpoint, I loved it so much

I think FFG's Rogue Trader RPG would make for a brilliant strategy game with RPG aspects. It'd be like Heroes of Might & Magic in space! Just with more economy and trade.

Dark Heresy or GW's own Inquisitor might be cool for an RPG in the style of Mass Effect where you uncover some horrible scheme, all the while exploring the grim darkness of the 41st millennium as you venture through the ill-maintained sub-levels of a hive city and meet up with various powerful officials from all Imperial adepta.

Either as a multiplayer mode or as a standalone offshoot of this game, an online co-op variant would have you select a customisable and upgradeable Imperial warrior from a bunch of powerful classes (Space Marine, Sister of Battle, IG Sergeant with bot-squad, psychic Inquisitor, ...?) with distinctive special abilities to fight your way through randomly generated levels and just having some good fun slaying the Emperor's enemies. Think some sort of enhanced version of ME3's multiplayer.

Necromunda could be made into some sort of Jagged Alliance Online with PvP territory control, where you send your gangers into hostile turfs, fighting AI- or player-controlled defenders in turn-based combat. You'd join up with other players in one of the big syndicate houses and invest captured resources into equipping your gangers, bribing local officials and enforcers, and reinforcing controlled territories with guards or traps.

Necromunda would also have potential to be a very cool and grimdark MMO, chiefly because as a ganger you have much more freedom than a "proper" Imperial soldier, and we wouldn't have to fear some kid besmirching the fluff because he thinks a bunny-jumping Marine is funny. However, it may not be a sound business decision, for as unique as this game might be amongst the competition, it lacks the "pull" that GW's posterboy army would bring to the product.

Great Ideas Lynata

I would also pose...
GORKAMORKA would make a crazy fun MMO sand box scavenging experiance, with all kinds of fun kit bashing and such, Orks and mutants, and human "diggas" could be a fun single player or multiplayer experiance, specially with all the vehicles and gang warfare.

Battle Fleet Gothic A 40k spaceship sim game, kinda like the starfleet command games, make it scaleble, with single ship details, all the way to maybe a squadron on small fleet...make all the races playable..I would lose many hours on that...specially if they ever did a Epic ground combat tie in..take the space and then take the planet.

A ARMA style one would be incredible as the above poster mentioned...but maybe a bit to realistic for 40k..can see anyone getting into CC range on a 20km by 20km map..with realistic weapon ranges

and who knows we may eventually see a total war version of 40k if the people at Creative Assembly get the rights to that as well as the WHFB...total war 40k could be crazy fun.

heres hoping.

I think a game like Knights of the Old Republic would be a good way to put in a 40k roleplaying game.

You start out as a character thats part of an inquisitors retinue and you travel around on missions and at several points you are given the option of falling to Chaos.

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines
