So I was thinking, who ever uses the IG grenade launcher? I don't. However, I can see the advantages of having a mass of template fire against horde armies. So, how about giving the imperial guard some sort of underslung grenade launcher and call it a combi-grenade launcher?

As it is a combi option, it should be available to more than one member of the squad - say maybe 2-3 underslungs for the same points cost as a grenade launcher.

Tacitcally, it would give you the option to fire all three at once, or whenever you want to, meaning that you could really thin the ranks of an ork mob running at you, or take out a few chaos marines on an objective at a critical point in the game.

What do you think?

While the topic is open, why not an underslung Shotgun or Flamer? Those do exist alongside the Grenade Launcher in modern times, why not on Guardsmen?

i did say vets, but vets and stormies have a much greater access to specialized weapons than a standard CCS does RAW aside, fluffwise vets can certainly loot these types of things(due to along time in the field) and Stormies are going to have all sorts of crazy due to their "toy soldier" status, a CCS is going to be held to much stricter regulations than an "elite" guardsman like weapons choice and the like and that includes their weapons choices (a commisar might not smile upon a company commander's entourage having cobbled together weaponry)... Remember there is No STC going to be producing these so the work would have to be expensive (stormies) or cobbled together (vets).

I would love to see something along the lines of a combi-gl or combi-shotgun for IG sergeants and possibly command squads. I have been thinking of converting lasguns with a combi-gl or shotgun attached to them just for the looks but them having actual rules would be nice.

Why would they? The IG is supposed to be the Imperium's Rangers/USMC/Spetsnaz.... An underslug shotgun/flamer/GL should be pretty common in their ranks. The "elite" thing should be the boltgun combi-weapons (combi-flamer, combi-melta, combi-plasma) and not the humble underslug weapons...

Well, here is quick rules for such weapons.



Lasgun Combi-weapons

Up to 3 models in an Infantry Squad/ Any model in a special Weapon squad, Veteran or Command Squad may replace upgrade their lasgun to have an underslung weapon +5pts.

Lasguns with underslung attachments are combiweapons, the main weapon is a lasgun. The secondary weapon is one of the following- Hand Flamer, Shotgun, Grenade Launcher. Note that a combi-grenade launcher may only fire once per game but may elect whether to fire Frag or Krak grenades.


The reason I made them 5pts is because Boter combiweapons are 10, and with the Lasgun and attachments bein entirely inferior, well, that's it.
