So i was thinking about a good way to run Lychguard because.....well im not gonna lie, i love the models and how hard they are to kill haha
I'm thinking of 10 Lychguard lead by a DLord with the usual MSS, Weave, and Phase Shifter. The Dlord in front to soak up some serious fire power and not having to worry about las cannons picking off the guard as they come in and he'll have his 2+/3+
Sooooo what do you guys think, can it work out well?

I personally think that could be pretty sweet with plenty of ranged support of course (warriors and maybe Heavy Destroyers for nasty long range Armor) have you thought of taking Vargard Obyron with it? I've read in a few different places that using him with Warscythe Lychguard is pretty effective.

If I recall you cannot take a phase shifter on a Dlord. Just stick a regular Lord with ws, mss, weave, and resorb in the unit. No use of taking a Dlord just for the PE.

Wow....i cant believe i forgot they cant take it, this is what happens when you make lists when you're tired -.- lmao
But also thinking i'd run the Lychguard with warscythes, then they can chop through basicly anything plus it saves 50pts from using shields

D.Lord w/ warscythe, MSS and Rez orb attached to a full unit of war scythe-wielding Praetorians is a very Killy unit. The Rez orb is an absolute must in the unit as it will likely give you a 300-400%return on it's point cost.
But you're still better off with wraiths.

You want a killy deathstar?
Don't care about the points?
-replace Lychguard with Lords.
-give them all MSS, Sep.Weave, Warscythes, and if you're feeling extra troll-ish, P.Shifters and Tes.Labyrinths
-give one of them a ResOrb
-stick them in a Ghost Ark for open topped assault transport
-watch it steamroll its way through your opponent's army
(for extra lulz, attach an HQ: Anrakyr can grant them Furious Charge/Counter Attack, DLords for Preferred Enemy, and Zahndrek + Obyron for... well, pure murder)

A couple of things to add. The first is that you'll want to add a least a couple of Crypteks to that disco party. Lance-teks add good high strength shooting and the option for a solar pulse, and storm-teks are just good, especially with Lightning Fields or Aether Crystals. I'd also like to expose the value of Trazyn for either a Lychguard or Lord deathstar. He makes the unit scoring, gives him more opportunities to turn out as a doom-bot, and his weapon compliments warscythes rather well (it deals with tarpit units while scythes deal with elite units).

While I cannot offer any personal experience to the matter because I am still debating how to put mine together, what if you were to have a unit with shields in front of one with scythes, perhaps dropping them in by NS close enough so that they can easily connect and screw with your opponents back filed.

hmm, two units of Lychguard, one with shields in the front, one with Warscythes in the back... should work in theory, but that's an awful lot of points to do what other things can do for cheaper...

Additionally, you can only take 1 Chronometron per court, so to have 4 you would have to have 4 Overlords or Overlord Characters, and they would all be in different royal courts by default.

Plus you can't have 2 Royal Courts join together. You can put 2 guys from seperate royal courts into the same squad, but the rules for Royal Court members that don't join another unit would limit it. Royal court members can only join squads of Lychguard, Deathmarks, Warriors(blaa blaa blaa), other Royal Courts is not on that list

I think you can do the Deathstar in a reasonable fashion using the royal court in the ghost ark as mentioned.
Doing TOO much in the court doesn't leave you enough points to spend elsewhere. You need to have a reasonably killy army behind it. Had some experience with Lychguard as well, I wish you could mix S/S guys with WS guys, but you can't. Ho hum. Here's a list!
175 Trazyn the Infinate
160 Destroyer Lord
MSS, Weave
150 Lord, MSS, Weave, Orb, Shifter
120 Lord, MSS, Weave, Shifter
75 Lord, MSS, Weave
75 Lord, MSS, Weave
75 Lord, MSS, Weave
40 Cryptek of Eternity, Chromotron
55 Destruction Cryptek, Gaze, Pulse
35 Storm Cryptek, Lightning Field
70 Despair Cryptek, Veil, Shroud
245 Wraiths x 6
Whipcoils x 3, Particle Caster
65 Warriors x 5
65 Warriors x 5
65 Warriors x 5
35 Destructo-tek
115 Ghost Ark
100 Night Scythe
100 Night Scythe
90 Annihilation Barge
90 Annihilation Barge
T goes with the 9-man court in the Ghost Ark, you have Barges run support, attempt to give cover for turn 1, but otherwise, you're relying on AV13/Jink to get close, then its open topped time assault time! You obviously can go crazy with the points for the Royal Court, but this is a majority T5 super killy unit that should be able to paste anything in CC. If for some reason you're out of your transport and your D-Lord/Wraiths are near by, yout Dlord can hop on for preferred enemy too.
Ideally though, the wraiths give you another "deal with it" threat, and you have fliers to cause problems, score you linebreaker and generally be good. Plus you have annihliation barges! And your deathstar scores!
I dunno, seems like it could do okay. Again, my limited experience, it has. Oh, and you can teleport too if needed.
Anyways, I digress.

Interesting that you included Trazyn.
the couple times I've run the Royal Court Disco Inferno™, I've included Zahndrekh and Obyron.
here's my load out:
Zahndrekh = 185
Obyron = 160
Lord (warscythe, scarabs, weave, shifter, orb) = 170
Lord (warscythe, scarabs, weave, shifter, t.lab) = 140
Lord (warscythe, scarabs, weave, shifter, t.lab) = 140
Lord (warscythe, scarabs, weave, shifter, t.lab) = 140
Lord (warscythe, scarabs, weave, shifter, t.lab) = 140
Destr-tek (gaze, pulse) = 65
Storm-tek (lightning) = 35
Tremor-tek (crucible) = 40
Crono-tek (chronometron) = 40
TOTAL = 1255 (1370 with pimp-mobile Ghost Ark)
Throw in a couple of 5 man Warrior squads, and BAM, you have the most ridiculous 1500 points of 'Cron ever to grace a table.

A deathstar that work great for me (though you won't want to be running it in less than 2k games) is the following: Overlord (195): Warscythe, Sempiternal Weave, MSS, Phase Shifter, Tessuract Labryinth Zhandrekh (185) Obyron (160) 5 Lychguard (225): HPS & DS 2 Storm Crypteks (70): Lightning Fields This unit can kill anything in the game. The unit starts on the board then teleports where it needs to be. The Storm crypteks will pretty much guarantee I can blow up any tank in the game so important targets like landraiders are prize victims. Since I'm usually out in the open the trun I teleport, I give counter-attack to the unit (or stealth if I'm in cover). If I'm charged the lightning fields give an automatic 2d6 Str.8 AP5 hits (so I don't fear dreadnoughts in the least) and counter-attack gives plenty of attacks. The overlord will challenge high-inval save characters with his MSS and tessuract, or obyron will take the challenge if it's a scrub sergeant As a unit it is neigh impossible to dislodge and if left alone it will wreck an army. It's weakness is obviously its cost and one bad DS mishap could cost you the game.

My local GW store ran an escalation league where if you were running an army that was new to you you could play an HQ for free - points didn't count towards your list. The new Necron codex had come out like the month before. Even though I played Necrons I had to buy all new models so I claimed "new army" status. I couldn't afford to do the complete disco inferno but I was close with a fully decked out overlord, three lords and four crypteks...needless to say it was a stupid ploy on the GW store managers part that ended with us not getting past 750pt in the league because everyone hated me and the new tau player But it was fun to watch the carnage...I didn't even win that much (mostly because I'm a sucky player and there's not that much we can do at 750pts compared to GK inquisitors or DE venom spam)

That is why you don't use any VoD with a death star like this. It is far to risky strategy which basically leaves you vulnerable when notin position to strike and can cost you the game when you DS mishap. A night scythe is much cheaper than the cost of Obyron and just 40pts more than a despairtek with VoD and does not have a 10th of the risk a VoD has. Generic lords, Over Lords and Lychguard are much better than SC, and you can bolster your ranks with vanilla Crypteks just to LoS to them over Lychguard. You can also run this effectively in games between 1500 and 1850 as long as you mind your costs and cover you bases with other units.

I think there is a glaring couple of weakness with this Deathstar group:
1. Only 2 Warscythes, ARGH! Warscythes are SO killy. They make the Deathstar killy. You only have 6 base attacks with the Warscythe here. An unbuffed squad of TH/ SS Termis have 10 TH strikes base.
2. You only have one Mindshackle Scarab. I think the other way to make a deathstar this expensive more killy is to abuse the best piece of CC wargear in the game.
How can we fix this without running a Royal Court squad? I like using an Overlord and Obyron like you do, but I leave Zahndrekh out of the squad. Secondly, I add in two MSS/Scythe weilding Lords instead of the Crypteks. Sure, anti-tank is great, but in this case, I think making you deadlier in combat is needed. That ups the Warscythe attacks from 6 to 10, and gives you 2 more mindshackles. If you aren't keen on teleporting, drop Obyron, get another generic overlord for the warscythe, MSS, Laby and Orb. If you load all up into a Night Scythe as suggested, you now have two indepenent characters that can split off and engage targets after you drop near the enemy if needed. You probably don't need a reminder, but a tooled up Overlord can handle most units in the game.
Just some thoughts.

You can only attach one RC member per Overlord. Without Zahndrekh Obyron uses up an HQ slot and Obyron doesn't give you a RC. 2 OverLords and to RC Lords are IMO, the best things to add on to 5+ Lychguard in a Nightscythe. Then you can have 4 MSS, 9+ Warscythes and 4x 2+/3++ saves.

Yah TH/ SS don't stand a chance against this unit.... I know as its COMPLETELY decimated a unit consisting of Vulkan and 10 TH/ SS termies on multiple occasion. This unit is one of the few things I'm scared to throw my hammernators at.
