I play Warhammer Fantasy far more than I do 40k but every now and again I get back into it although not often super competitively, this would be one of those times. My first army ever was Eldar and I despised them. Then I played CSM which were ok, and a year ago I started Orks which I was rather fond of and at around the same time I also played IG infantry. I traded those Orks for nids which recently I sold, and now I'm not sure what to play. I was thinking maybe Space Wolves, Blood Angels, Grey Knights, CSM (Noise Marines), or maybe even Daemons. I want to stay a bit away from hording as its a pain to set up and move by yourself and I want an army that is quality or quantity this time around. I also like vehicles (when I played Orks I ran a speed freaks style list). Anyway my knowledge of 40k and specially the newest rules is limited, what would you recommend I pick this time around?

Non-horde vehicle army = Tau or Necron imo.

Run a FW army.

More FW = more FW acceptance.

(I suggest a Horus Heresy army. Incredibly fun.)

I didn't mention this above so I'll say it now, I will not play Tau. And I would rather not play Necrons as I will be playing against many people who do but I appreciate the advise thus far.

If you play SM; I suggest BA, but that isn't my point. If you play SM, you can play them all. Who cares if the armor is a different color as long as the models are correct. And you know what, if you were playing at our place you could just proxy everything. We're poor. We can barely have one army.......to think of even two.....please sir another bowl.

If you want an army that is quality over quantity, it will probably be something wearing power armor. Grey Knights currently can have a 2000 point army with less than 20 figures easily.

You might want to hold off a little while and see what the new Dark Angels codex brings, I know they have a lot of Terminator options, Deathwing command, deathwing knights, deathwing terminators. Rumors state that squad sizes will be up to 10 (THANK YOU) Some of the new vehicles look a little strange but they kind of grow on you. Plasma is seeming to be (at least to me) to be on an upswing this edition, and the boys in bone and green love their plasma.

For seemingly the first time ever cost isn't going to be that horrid of a constraint with starting this army, as I actually have a decent amount of money to play around with this time.

If thats the case, you should spend your money on lottery tickets and try to triple your investments.

Daemons.
You can even use them in fantasy.
