Hi all. I thought it was high time i started painting what i buy and the only time in the past i've ever fully painted and army was when i last did a plog on another site 2-3 years ago. And frankly having seen some of the work some of you on here do i'm hoping to get CC off quite a few of you. Some seriously fantastic painters on here.

Anyway this army i want to get painted is my beloved Tzeentch Daemons.

The collection consists of:

Kairos Fateweaver
Lord of Change
Herald of Tzeentch on Disc
20 Pink Horrors
The Changeling
15 Flamers
12 Screamers
2 Soul Grinders
Tzeentch Daemon Prince (Kit bashed with the spare LoC head, staff and a set of pegasus wings to give him a real bird theme in line with Tzeentch.)

I want to paint this army as i intend to take it to tourneys this year as i look to add another element to my hobbying. Apologies if any pics are no good.

Sorry for blabbering on, lets begin with my first 2 units, Screamers of Tzeentch.

See the pics further down the thread.

What do you guys think?

It's coming up with broken Photobucket links for me.

I suggest uploading the photos to the Dakka Gallery, and then using the links there.

Morning all (well its morning where i am at any rate).

Got some more pics for you, my 2 pink horror units. Hopefully these pics work for everyone.

One was adorned with gold and the othe silver so you can tell the difference. The Instruments (as thats what they are in fantasy) were chosen to represent chaos icons if i ever choose to include icons in a list.

Enjoy and please tell me your thoughts. Thanks.

Please comment guys.

Here's a comment- you have incredible painting skills. The Discs are amazing, the detail you put into the eyes and the shadowed recesses is impressive. The Horrors and Flamers are done with a similar attention to detail and a very obvious skill that places you in the higher ranks of the talented Dakka elite.

I'll be sharing this thread w/ a couple friends of mine, hopefully traffic will pick up. Also, keep in mind that sometimes threads can take a while to pick up attention and subscribers even when the work is of the caliber you are offering here. My advice is to share more 'WIP' shots as you work through your squads (and share techniques). That will keep your thread active and will draw more attention since it bumps to the top of the list more frequently.

This is great work and deserves to be recognized. Subbed and will be back.

Wow thanks very much bloodaxe, what a fantastic comment. Not sure i'm in the elite but I am very happy with my results. Makes me wish I had done some WIP pics. But i've been able to really crack the whip and get things done this week so just did it without thinking about pics as I went. I will try and do so in future.

Thanks again.

These are all looking good. I particularly like the screamers, you've done a good job on them. I saw you're going to do the changeling, too. That's one of my favourite figures.

I don't really have anything to suggest, but I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of your army.

Thanks Lenny, yes i will be doing the changeling. I'm gonna do what Skalk Bloodaxe suggested and do a progression update for him so people can see how i do things. By no means do i think everyone should copy, to each his own style, its just how i do things.

I'm currently close to finishing my LoC, who will be up next.

Thanks novelist47, it was achieved with a white base coat, followed by the 2 layers of the new orange wash, then a final crimson wash before highlighting up from there.

i find it a great way to get a good base colour for the model quickly.

Wow. You are very good with vibrant colors. I tend to not use them so much as they are a playground for bleed-over mistake correction. The names form your Soulgrinders... inside joke perhaps?

As for WIP, the vast majority of people I've seen understand that WIP shots are not intended to be 'telling ' how to do it, but rather as a "this is how I did it"' with the ideas and techniques behind your results. Do what you wish to do, and for your own reasons of course, but I tend to share a lot of WIP on my blogs for 3 reasons, in order- #1- It makes for an interesting and often humorous read, #2- it increases the visibility of my blog, therefore increasing the opportunity to receive the feedback and attention that fuels my motivation and focus, and #3- If I can help someone become a better modeler simply by showing my work (especially the mistakes) then I feel I have helped improve the hobby overall.

Looking forward to seeing more of your work. It's *really* good stuff.

Really like what I see here. I'm a fan of Daemons and I have to say your Screamers are my favs. Looks to me like you're using mainly washes, yes? Either way I like your outcomes.

Look forward to more and happy painting!

The Lord of Change is absolutely glowing with real ultimate power, I like it a lot!

I don't care for the eyes on the Screamers, though. Perhaps if they were painted yellow.

I love the 'watercolor' paint style, I've been using it for a few years myself. So easy to make a mistake, but the end result is worth it. One thing I noticed is the Horrors, there seems to be a bit too much of the white showing through. What I do in cases like this is a single layer of a darker color, so for pink horrors try one with purple. It will create a bit more contrast.

"Orkses never lost a battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!"

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

Thanks for all the comments guys.

Skalk- Thanks for the tips, i will definately do a WIP pic set when i get around to the changeling and also a herald to jump on the disc i've already painted.

Bunny Gurl- as my signature says, i do like to use white base and build up with washes to get the base coat then work up from there. agreed it can be frustrating when the wash strays from time to time but as you say the results are worth it. i've used it for 2 armys, the first was lizardmen. may have a pic or 2 of them still. Soulgrinders are indeed a bit of a running joke in my local GW, Brian is a name of a friend and the other is an "interesting" (shall we say) character who frequents the store from time to time.

Peebs- Thanks very much, i'll be sure to get some army pics when its done. gonna do it down my GW as i will hopefully be able to set up an armies on parade type board and get some shots for you all.

Dez-Thanks regarding the LoC, i must admit i think he looks much nicer in the flesh than in the pics. I was in 2 minds regarding the screamer eyes whether to go yellow or rakarh flesh (the colour i used) so i tried one of each and preferred the flesh look. Purely a personal choice there. Thanks for the tip about the horrors. again in the flesh they look much better, i may well go back to them after the army is painted.

I've almost finished my Daemon Prince. i will hopefully have pics for you all later today.

Thanks again guys.

Mixer if you go over it with purple, make sure you water it down. I normally do the darker coat first.

Next update guys, my Daemon Prince of Tzeentch.

A kit bash between the daemon prince kit, spare head and staff from the LoC kit and feathered wings from a Pegasus knight kit to give him a real Tzeentch feel rather than just a blue daemon prince.

Next up will be Fateweaver himself, then the only 2 things to do are the Changeling and the Herald to go on the Disc.
