On a pure value for points, rhino. 35 points, can get your guys 12" up field on turn 1, or 18 if you flat out.

If its purely on value for points, then yeah the rhino. 35pts is nothing to move 10 men 18" in one turn and keep them slight more safe while doing it.

The bare razorback is also very good, depending on what army you play. It tend to favour SW and GK since they deviate from the standar codex astartes.

The Predator is pretty darn nice for its cost. 85 pts gets you a fair amount of tank.

The vanilla predator is awesome for just putting cheap AV 13 on the table. The dakka version is super cheap, but the autolas version is pretty reasonable as well.

3 auto/las predators and 3 riflemen dreads is just gruesome for medium/light armor. You still to shoehorn in the melta for the heavy stuff, though. Although many prefer vindis over the auto/las, and I can't say I blame them. It's a hard judgement call. I have a tendency to favor auto/las because they can deal more wounds to MC.

This thread likely doesn't have a clear answer.

BA razorback is pretty sweet. Cheap if bought with an assault squad, and adding fast to a shooty tank is good.

It depends entirely on how you play. Even if you discounted transports then you have some interesting choices.

I personally favour the Vindicator for my SW, but that's because everything is getting to the 24" range mark. It works good with BA too.

Star Trek taught me so much. Like, how you should accept people, whether they be black, white, Klingon or even female...

Playing against IG blob squads, tyrranid swarms, Eldar, and the occasional ork foot list, I have to say I love the Space Marine Whirlwind. I wish I could take a squadron of 3!

I too really like the Whirlwind, very good weapon against virtually anything on foot, and really like the round that ignores cover saves, excellent for killing those pesky Eldar Rangers and the like.

For dakka, dakka pred.
For transport, rhino.
For sheer destruction, vindicator.

It's impossible to say as each tank excels in one field (sans regular LR and razorback which sort of give up qualities to dual role). There is no "best tank" there's only "best tank for X" whatever X may be.

Sorry I should have said best anti tank tank for lowest point cost. In all the codexs for every chapter which ome is the cheapest best option.

Blood Angels Predator with Auto Cannons and Lascannon side sponsons.

The tank's main turret is good for medium armor and has 2 shots. Lascannons are great for heavier armor at one shot each. The tank is also fast which allows for better positioning while still getting off a shot after further movement. It's also decently priced. Basically you get 4 shots to dump on enemy armor and the volume of fire coupled with the mix in strengths makes the tank not only durable and hard hitting, but also makes it ideal for any number of situations ie Venoms, Ghost Arks, Chimeras and some of the more common armor you will see. Against Heavier Armor like Land Raiders and Monoliths you can still easily contend with the two side lascannons.

"AM are bunch of half human-half robot monkeys who keep tech working by punching it with a wrench And their tech is so sophisticated that you could never get it wrapped it out" thing a LITTLE to seriously. It also goes "Tau tech is so awesome I wish I was Tau and not some stupid Human" thing.

well depending on what you are fighting will matter, If you want anti tank cheapest would be a razorback with a laz cannon under 100 points if im correct, next would be an annihilator patten pred at 160(?) you get 3 laz cannon shots.

For hordes razorback again coming in at under 100

or a pred with HB on the side which is...120? i think.

and also a Vind is good for horde armies, nothing like a pie plate to ruin your enemy's day

To many unpainted models to count.

Vindicator. Thing is dirt cheap and threatens most everything in the game. Try taking on a 3 vindi list sometime and you'll see what barley 350pts can do to an army.

^^ what he said 3 vinds will steam roll any horde army you throw at them, just park them in the back and ba BOOM!

The one down fall to the vind's is its short range, if you are going up things with long range like laz cannons you wont make it to them in time. Or super fast assault troops

To many unpainted models to count.

for transports: razorback
regular tank: auto/las pred

I don't know if it counts as a tank but I think that the Thunder fire cannon is the best only for 100 too

The vanilla marine predator with Autocannon/Heavy Bolters is that number subtacting 35 from it.

Vindi's are decent the only issues is the 24" range imo

The range is nessicary for ballancing though, Its unfair to have anything longer for something that can ID MC s
