That had to have been some scary crap, and keeping a calm enough head for three hours to survive that terror is pretty good by any measure.

What i find impressive is that he managed to keep the kids going. Keeping a small child amused and interested (or afloat for that matter) can be a challenge at the best of times. But doing so when theres a raging fire storm around? A combo of the heat, panic and watery shelter would have made that very difficult.
