Thinking of trying a Dread in a drop pod with in a DW drop army and am uncertain of what to take. I was thinking heavy flamer/multi-melta. Any suggestions?

That combo works for a pod. Make sure you have lots of other deep striking or scouting nasties arriving at the same time though, to take pressure off your dread.

Problem is the DA Dread has a "Power Fist" not a Dreadnaught CCW which means that it's effectively initiative 1 in combat because power fists are unyieldy. Personally I assume this to be an error with the print, unfortunately every reference to the Dreadnaughts base arm states power fist so it can't be seen as a typo. Basically... give em guns

I don't like the idea at all of a drop pod, I say just deploy them, if you're going to have a Dreadnaught in a Dark Angels army, make it one with two guns.

That's just how I see it, I'm sure they still have uses in melee, especially vs weaker infantry, but vs such infantry don't bother with a cc weapon at all.

I would only use a Drop pod if I was running it with a heavy flamer & I wouldn't really do that. I would rather run a land speeder for a flamer, or stick them in the terminator squads for a DW army.

Walkers and MCs ignore unwieldy.

Personally I like the Assault Cannon/Hvy. Flamer Combo. It causes an awesome amount of wounds on nearly everything and can still threaten side/rear armor.

Playing mostly Necromunda and Battletech, Malifaux is awesome too!

I checked under walkers twice and didn't bother to read the unwieldy rule :/ Until of course you said that. Thanks for the info.

In that case I'd run it with a heavy flamer in a pod if I was to take that route, I like the idea of it for some reason

No love for 2 x TL AC

They say you never appreciate what you have until it is gone. I fear that isn't true for your mind.

I often take the 2x TL AC but no point if the idea is to run it in a pod. That loadout is easier to deploy and sit back/shoot tbh

TL AC does not go in a pod. Part of the point of TL AC is that it is cheap, requires no mobilization and starts having an impact from turn 1.

I don't know what all can go on DA Dreads, but heavy flamer and MM in a pod is pretty solid. I actually have gone to fragnoughts with the BA for crazy template death!

If you want to go fluffy, give him a plasma cannon. If you want practicality, I'd recommend Multi-Melta and Heavy Flamer on powerfist. Cheap, and leaves you able to handle whatever our drop next to...
