I already asked this on the list building section, but I think you guys might have more opinions.
GT this weekend. Lots of scoring missions. I have a TAU base list with GK allies which I don't need to go into specifics with, I'm just wrestling with the last 70-80 pts of troops.
I already have a 12 man FW in a DF, 2x6 man FW on the ground, a 10 man GKSS squad (buffed by Coteaz), and 5 GKT to deepstrike in (I used to do more GKSS, but now I'm afraid of Helldrakes and such)
Options for a 6th scoring unit:
12 Kroot. Infiltrate if I see a choice forest, usually probably outflank, grab objectives late.
Anval Thawn. Buff the GKT, but more importantly, dies, gets back up, annoys the hell out of the enemy, also grabs an objective late.
Just 2 more termies, bring the squad up to 7. THat's a formidable unit (unfortunately, there is no way I can get to 10 GKT and two psycannons)
Unnamed 4th option. Get a second DF for one of my litt FW squads. Even MORE crisis suits. A fairly small squad of pathfinders (reluctant to do that, because in one mission they would score, but also be worth a free VP)

Multiple tiny squads of 10 man kroot going to ground is hard to remove without flamers. Terminators tend to die due to all the plasma and such that's floating around.
Since the kroot can outflank, this gives you great moblility as well, but don't forget the fieldcraft rule is gone, kroot no longer get a bonus cover in a forest.

Thanks for the input. You should vote, though!
But no, kroot still get bonuses in woods.

I've played unconventional Tau list that emphasis heavily on Kroots. In some games, I've field between 80 to 100 Kroots. As a horde, they don't benefit moral such as IG, Nids, or Orks. However, they deal a lot of damage in shooting phase and they do well in assault. Infiltrating out outflanking a horde of BS3 AP6 bolter like shooting can be devastating.

Oh, just realized, another option was buying a teleporter for my NDK. But man, they get expensive. Telepporter tends to lead me into trouble wiith him.
