I know White Dwarf is not held in high regard any more, I've only bought a few issues myself since the early '90's, but what alternatives are there for Sci-Fi wargaming?
The only other wargame magazines in my local newsagents are Wargames Illustrated and Miniature Wargames. The latest Wargames Illustrated has more adverts than White Dwarf and no model/terrain tutorials, whereas Miniature Wargames seems a bit better but has just 4 pages on building a road. And both are more focused on historical gaming, both seem to have a real contempt for sci-fi gaming.
Are there any other magazines (not online) that cover sci-fi wargames and include terrain and model making?

Maybe it's because I'm more interested in most adverts in WI (mostly new releases from various companies), or because of the other contents, but I don't feel that WI is worse for adverts than WD.
Anyway, whilst there are plenty of historic gaming magazines out there, there's no much that does sci-fi.
Ravage is probably the best for general sci-fi, but is a US magazine, so you might need to hunt for it over here. I believe it's also translated from Spanish, so the grammar can be pretty bad, though the content is still good.
Other possible (and recommended) suggestions:
Wargames, Soldiers & strategy: Mostly historics again, some pulp skirmish games. Usually features some hobby modelling/painting stuff, at least how to make the cover dioramma.
No Quarter: Privateer Press's magazine, great hobby content (painting and modelling; the last issue shows how to make a mould for plaster cobble tiles), only covers PP's range of games. Is US only so again you'll need to find a FLGS that stocks it.

I tend to buy Wargames Illustrated even though its become a bit of a catalogue for battlefront rather than anything useful half the time, but it has good support for SAGA which i play the most.
But Sci Fi wise, i suppose Wargames Soldiers & Strategy would be the best bet, they have good painting and modeling articles and also the miniature reviews do cover some pulp and sci fi topics, though normally small independent companies offerings rather than the big ones.

Otherwise i don't really know, generally outside of GW stores i have seen in increase in historical players, specially with SAGA and Bolt Action etc, as such the magazines seem to reflect this

The guys who do Miniature Wargames will be releasing a sci-fant oriented mag called Darker Horizons sometime this year so that could be worth looking out for.

There are some good channels on youtube that do the magazine stuff: reviews, battles, painting guides etc and they're free as well.

Try Ravage, its a really nice magazine. You can buy it from a UK seller, Valiant Wargames: http://www.valiantwargames.co.uk/index.php/magazines.html
