Well, just seeing the box and reading the blurb had me intrigued. I know nothing about the previous game
However, the
FFG site shows the board with the pieces, and I was a bit disappointed. This was primarily due to the bright, Day-Glo appearance of the board and red/green/blue/yellow (?) pieces. I don't associate steampunk with such bright colors. I am
definitely not a steampunk purist in any sense, it is just the opinion of a casual steampunk fan. A gritty-colored board with metallic pieces--now you're talking.
The mechanics
sounded Euro-centric--I could be wrong. Euro games are not my primary cup of tea, but I do want to give them more play.
Hope it is a good game though.
P.S. Note to any game designers reading--I think a board game with Dystopian Legions-scale minis would have a lot of potential. I have pledged Rivet Wars, but I think there is also promise in a game with "natural human" figures.
