I have yet to use my Chaos Termies, but I have faced off vs Space Marine Termies of late, and they kick my butt (until my Lord of Change and Typhus managed to roll into combat). So I was thinking about finally painting mine and wondered what sort of equipment to put on them?

With so many other anti-tank deepstriking units available (Obliterators, Raptors, Flamers), Land Raider delivery seems better for their assault potential. But should they be using power swords, or power axes? Power mauls are nice and strong but don't ignore most armor saves these days. For that reason I lean towards the axes, and hope they live to use them. Seems like Terminators don't have many AP2 attacks against them at better than Init 1, so I figure the axes would have a sporting chance of living and being used, and then if Khorned, get +2 attacks on the charge.

I also am thinking at least 1 Chainfist might be good, with 2 or 3 combi-meltas; then they could be a nice drop-off-kill-tank unit. With, for example, Kharn and an AxeLord with 4 Khorninators, each unit could take on almost any other unit by themselves.

The Terminator Champions get screwed with no bonus Champ attack, and an extra specialist weapon costs many many points, and it's not like he's any better at using them...I'd probably just give him a Gift of Mutation.

Nurglinators are also appealing, with either Typhus, or a Nurgle Lord and Nurgle Palanquin Sorcerer with them. Slaaneshi ones might be good with Lightning Claws, but can't I use a Heldrake for cheaper more effective AP3 death? Tzeentchinators could certainly survive vs MCs a little better, anyone had luck with them in battle?

1 CF / squad is nearly mandatory - you need to be able ti dispatch those walkers.

You have a sure delivery method (i.e. LR) : DLC all the way.
You plan on foot slogging them, or DS them : I like the tactical option : cheap with only combi bolters (melta or plasma depending on your local meta), or expensive with combi bolters, HF and PF.

I run mine as a 6x man Tzeentch squad:

Champ with dual LC
2x Combi Flamer
2x Combi Plasma
Heavy Flamer
1x CF
1x PF

Deepstriking behind enemies and try to toast as many as possible. They have survived after my opponents next turn as well.

Chaos termies are an odd bunch and are really only best deployed as shooty with combi-weapons and the free powerweapon of choice (axe, mace, sword). At 5 I add the heavy flamer as well.

If you want to add some CC punch make sure it is with an attached lord rather than the unit itself.

Certainly run them as Tzentch to get the better inv save for when they get mashed with power gloves.
I've got mine set up with heavy flamer, combi-flamer, kombi-melta, a powerglove, chainfist, mace, and two axes. The heavy flamer, combi-flamer are in there to force the maximum number of saves prior to my chaps charging into combat.

Termicide is still 3-4 with combi melta or plasma. Mauls and axes as needed.
5+ I'd add a fist weapon or two.

I'm a huge fan of magneting these guys because of all their options. they there are more arms to paint but its worth it when you can easily switch out. then not facing MEQ, why not use mauls? facing GK so youre expecting termis? Plan for axes. I do say if you are going to get a pf just spend the few extra points to get a cf though

A nice mix is best a single chainfist 2 mauls for ID Eldar and perhaps a few swords with a lord with the black mace

You always want them to have the tools to kill anything.

At the very least, take a chainfist. Also consider taking power axes as their standard power weapons, terminators don't have grenades after all.
