I've been magnetizing the weapons for some Valks/Vendettas and I find myself wondering just how often I'll use the Valkyrie setup. I really like the look of the rocket pods and it seems like they could be fairly useful for mob control, but would it be useful enough to justify not using it as a Vendetta? I've seen a lot of flyer lists lately and monstrous creatures, terminators, vehicles, etc. that just beg for the attention of 3 TL lascannons. So, what would Dakka do?

Ehhhhhhhhhhhh, Valkyries aren't that great to be totally honest. There are much better things in the Guard codex to handle crowd control. Any of our artillery options do the job way better, as do the pie plate Russ variants. At the end of the day, two 4/6 large blasts on a BS3 model aren't all that terrifying to Ork mobs or gant swarms. I would use the Vendetta over the Valkyrie every time.

My 1000 point Flyerspam list is essentially a Bastion, Vets, CCS, Two Vendettas, a Valkyrie, and a Vulture.

The only time a Valkyrie is the right call is if you are running full-flyers and need airborne anti-horde.

Even then, it's not stellar, but with Elysians, it is a Dedicated Transport. So that helps.
