Subject: 'free miniature' advert in the back of HH books?
I've noticed an advert at the back of Horus Rising and False Gods saying 'Your first miniature free!' in relation to visiting GW stores. Is this offer still on?

Last time i went to gw they weren't doing it. They did teach a few kids how to paint with aobr marines but I'm not even sure they got to keep them. I was hoping they'd be handing out that cool space wolf in the back of the hh books lol

Exactly that, you get to paint a plastic figure and when you're done you get to keep it. It is a quick 5 minute paint lesson meant to sell you one of the main box sets.

Every GW store does it, the whole "Would you like to paint a model and play a game to see what the hobby is all about" is the entire reason GW has brick and mortar stores in the first place.

Last I checked that free mini pic was a space wolf teminator, I wanna see someone go in and demand a model like in the pic since handing them a snap fit marine really is false advertising.

It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

As others have said it's a snap fit marine from the AOBR box set. However regarding the Space Wolf Termi they do not specify what model is given away free and do not state that the model pictured is indeed the 'free model' So demand all you want legally they can give you 'any' model for free. So anything between a Night goblin or a land raider in theory.

Ok fair point but I would argue saying 'free miniature' and then giving away a much worse quality model to the one shown intentionally creates false expectations. Which is why I want to see someone ask a redshirt why they aren't getting the pictured model.

Yeah you will get a free miniature like.. every time I go into the GW in York there is a big feth off box of plastic stuff in the back with kids throwing gak all over them badly.. I doubt they are going to strip them all are they?
Its not going to be an IC though obviously.. just a plaggy from the big boxed sets. Although, now DV is here it would be pretty cool getting one of those kick ass chosen or something.
Since FC turned up they go for £13 each, its probably taking the piss to expect one surely?

When I was relatively new to the hobby I got a free Ork Meganob from a GW employee in the Sydney City Store (Australia). That was quite a few years ago now... I can't imagine anything like that happening now.

I have always thought that a crazy demeanour and a bag o' guns was the best way to get free stuff.
The local constabulary is not so keen on this approach.
