So me and a few mates and my brother have come across Dystopian wars and decided on our fleets I've gone for Kingdom of Britannia have ordered the naval group box and my rule book watched a few games on YouTube and got the general gist but am now looking for some more KoB specific tactics and anything I need to look out for or especially make use of what's the most efficient and effective way to use the fleet basically

Cheers all!

Welcome to the war!
Ok first up, sorry if this comes across as snarky, but this really goes in general for new players to this game, but this:

Really doesnt apply here. The "best" way to use your nation is to have fun. And I don't mean in a treehuggy sense, I mean things like list efficiency unless your trying to loose is a bit of well..not a thing in DW. DW doesn't have Deathstar units, and even the dreadnoughts, while they look imposing, are actually surprisingly easy to handle (with the exception of maybe the Enterprise. they generally suffer from Bismark Syndrome). Even the units themselves, very few are "bad" and a lot of it is down to what you like and enjoy using. Thats kind of the thing with the games use of exploding 6s. In theory if you're jammy enough you can crit and double 1 a dreadnought with some frigates.

Anyway sorry for that rant, there are probably many who don't agree with me but yeah xD

Onto Her Majesties Forces!

In general the golden rule to DW is keep everything in maximum sized units, and have at least 2 units of each size class (within reason, you can often get away with 1 unit of mediums as they're the games line ships and take up a lot of points. Larges you can easily get away with 1 of in a small game). The second point leads on from that. Focus on your mission objective. While you COULD spend your entire fleet focusing on the other guys flagship, if your objective is to kill his frigates well.. going out of your way to sink his flagship is a bit silly now isn't it?

Within the KoB, lots of nice navel units. The battleship is a beast but is weak to boarding so be careful. Those Orion Destroyers are evil little blighters too. Gaurdian Generators are handy in a pinch too. The KoB are not a boarding faction, so I wouldn't even recommend trying. The torpedos are the Brits bread and butter. They may not seem that powerful at first glance with the other guy getting CC against them, but remember once everythings in RB1 the other guys guns will be damages, the torpedos dont decrease AD with HP loss so stay at full strength all game. The other guy on the other hand is losing CC and AD with each hit his ships take.

The KoB air on the other hand IS a little lack luster. The only thing i'v heard not get some complaints are the Marlins for Submarine hunting (namely the Ika), and the Illustrious Sky Fortress. The rest of the air stuff seems to be like the Vanguard Subs, rather lackluster, but their such pretty models you use them anyway

BAre in mind though i'm a EotBS player, so a KoB player will probably be able to go a bit more into it than me! Hope this helps get you started at least!

*bursts though room with axe* HEEEAAARRRS JHONNY!!!

Ive started with KoB and from what I been though in my battles against the Prussian Empire, I have found out that we are a tough faction and we have lots of generators for our guys meaning that we get less damage taken upon us as well as our Torpedo's... people usually don't like them but considering you can fire at submerged models with them, its a nice and handy addition or us.

Indeed just from watching a few games online I've learned that I'm gonna learn to love the torpedoes, question regards them though do I need to turn the ships side on to fire em or not? I love the idea of link fire as well! And the exploding dice mechanic just seems like an incredible idea!!

That depends, if its the torpedo broadsides then yes, the target has to be in the broadside arc. If its the fixed channel fore torpedos then no, the ship has to be pointed in a straight line at the target. Torpedo turrets can hit anything in the angle it says.

England, West sussex.

For the ships in the KOB starter box the frigates need to turn to the side as they have their torpedoes on the sides whereas the cruisers and battleship has its torpedoes on the front and side so can fire them forward and to the side, the fire arc is the length of the ship for P/S (port and starboard) torpedoes and the width of the ship so the side fire arc is a lot bigger but you do need to turn and KOB ships aren't the fastest or most manoeuvrable.
