Has anyone got so annoyed with Dark Souls that they rage-quitted? I used to, but now I just kinda have a laugh with it. Having beaten the game once (and then lost the xbox account due to a billing dispute), I've decided to just troll everything on Dark Souls.
My personal favorite is making the red dragon breath fire along the bridge to torch all the undead on it

Anyone got any good trolls?

I played so much NES and SNES in my childhood I kinda became immune to it, but I'm pretty sure that was the devs' intention.

I don't see how getting the bridge wyrm to torch the undead is trolling Its actually a early game way to farm souls. But to contribute to this, i invade people in anor lando along the outside ridges where those two silver knight dragon bowmen are and just knock people off the edges with the biggest damn sword/ axe i have... cause you know that spots not annoying enough already

WAAAHG!!! until further notice

I've actually had that happen to me once
Annoying as hell, but speaking as someone who had a lookie in seath's place (I forget what it's called), there's worse in Dark Souls

I have rage quit this game a few times, actually cost me a controller also after throwing it in anger. (I broke the casing, it still works although it's a tad too sharp to hold now for a long time )

This is a literal first for me as I have never rage quitted a game in my life, I'm usually too determined/proud to admit there is a game I can't finish, but with Dark Souls I have admitted defeat for now.

I will return to it, one day, a long time from now, when I'm a lot older and more patient. I find it suprising this game annoyed me so much to be honest though as I finished Demon Souls without rage quitting and everyone claims dark souls is much easier.

I've never used lighting spears. I take it they are powerful?
I used the black knight halberd this time around (@+3, two handed), sen's fortress proved no trouble at all between that, some throwing knives and stone armour

I found Demon Souls had a lot more 'brick wall' moments - bits I got to, died really fast or inexplicably and then ended up saying "How the f*** do I kill that?!?!" Dark Souls feels like more of an uphill grind, and certainly there is a lot more to it.

Dark Souls does have a rather big bit of sadism running through its core though with regards to the player invasions - compared to when the game started it is an absolute hell now with dedicated PVPers, and there doesn't seem to be a level range where I'm not getting invaded by people (presumably teenagers) with ridiculous l33t names that one-hit me. Nevermind, they get a one-word swear message (I'm sure you can guess) and then get put on a permanent ignore - I win!

When rolling a new character, get the Drake Sword and then start invading low levels. Bwahaha.

Why? Drake sword isn't that good.. has a terrible move set and you can have a +5 Zweihander 5 minutes after finding it.

Only at start. A lot of (new) players do not know about the Drake Sword and therefore face you with their regular weapons that can't stand up vs. the Drake Sword.

I'm kind of ashamed to admit this game actually made me smash a controller.. probably the first time since a heated Goldeneye multiplayer about 15 years ago! Fortunately my controller-repair skills hadn't left me and I was excused having to buy a new one..

Seriously, people like Sigvatr make me that bloody angry..

There is a difference between trolling and being an arsehole.......

As for Trolling:

-Get as many Force as you can, start running around Sen's, Blighttown, or TotG and force people off edges.
-Use Channelers Trident during ANY invasion.
-Invade someone with the Darkwood Grain Ring and a broken Channelers Trident. Run away from the host. Trident Dance. Run away from host. Trident Dance. Backstab host as needed to be an annoying SoB.

-Do This:

Don't feel bad, I did something worse. When playing Ninja Gaiden 2 I was so frustrated I died once again thanks to the difficulty + bad camera angles, without exaggeration this was around my 30th death at the boss, I bit the controller I bit it with such rage, it remained forever with my teeth marks

Done that.

My wife, bless her heart, tries to play games sometimes and tears off the rubber covering on the analogue sticks wih her finger nails.

As for me, I hated dark souls...it felt like the game was just intentionally designed to be hard without asking the player to really improve their skill in a way that I am interested in doing. Clunky combat, for example. If a game is going to have difficult combat, it needs to be fluid and responsive, like ninja gaiden

No offense, but if you thought the combat was clunky, you were just bad at it....

Dark Souls was a Thinking Man's Difficult, where as Ninja Gaiden is more of a Reaction Time Difficult.

To say what Slarg232 said in a more diplomatic way, I think this game really punishes the slightest mistake on the part of the player - be it from running in to attack too fast, not knowing an attack pattern, mistiming a block or strike etc. It's probably at least part of why the game is so popular, and at the same time many people like it - those of us who grew up on punishing arcade games and their console conversions either enjoyed that, or on the other side of the coin are glad that the industry has mostly moved on from it.

Where this game moves beyond that, and I would say almost sadistic, is the invasion system. If you don't want to play as a hollow (and get the benefits of summoning help and small bonuses) what is already a hard game becomes almost impossible. Especially at this age of the game when people have had so much time to make mental pvp characters and prey on the weak. Although, at least the game lets you choose whether you want to do this.

Besides, you can always play offline.

And yeah Vord, to echo the rest. You seem to be confusing fluid combat with fast/reaction based combat. Dark Souls is extremely fluid and rewarding. It just happens to punish button mashing.
