So, for the new codex, I was planning on converting a broadside suit into a support commander with all the supporting systems and iridium armor. I was going to use a 40 mm base instead of the base supplied with the kit, so do you think I would run into any trouble? I have the hands planned out as a modification of 1 missile pod hand into the sensor suit and the railgun left hand into a hand and fusion blaster.

I need help with this for where to place the jetpack.

For the crisis team, cutting off the head/ torso part of stealth suits and placing the head socket so that the regular head can fit in. I will have the bottom part of the legs to add a joint between the parts of the knee. The shoulder pads will function as knee pads. I will add the stealth jet pack to the middle, and position the regular thrusters to a ball joint on the sides, where if they were held horizontally, the thrusters would be pointed downward.

The problem I have with these guys is that the arms will probably seem to short, so what should I do to solve this problem?

Technically you are supposed to put the model on the base that was supplied with it. Some people might take exception at using the smaller base. When changing base size, it seems as if most people will accept the size increasing rather than decreasing.

I am not familiar with the kit. It is polystyrene, though, it should be fairly simple to lengthen the arms by sawing across at a suitable point, inserting a rod, then covering the gap with plasticard which you can extend down the whole length of the limb to represent Iridium armour.

For an alternative jetpack, check out Resv's awesome "helldiver" class suits. The jetpacks are beefier and effectively separate so you could attach them around the particle accellerator on the xv88

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Flinty; Thanks for the link, I looked at it and saw the rockets, and I was wondering if the way the missiles where located, I would use the remaining peices to convert it into a jetpack, with the one remaining peice at the top middle of the model.

Killkrazy; The default commander is on a 40mm base, but the model I plan to use has a 60mm base. Should I still use the original base? Thanks for the advice on the lengthening of the arms.

While I would go with the 40mm base.

If I were making a broadside out of a crisis suit, the new 60mm base would be the correct way to go without a doubt. But, given that the destination model for the conversion (a crisis suited commander) is on a 40mm base, it makes sense to me to put your conversion on that size base.
