What is the best way to add two warbands together on tabletop from seperate gods, using a centralised paintscheme?

I have Berzerkers thousand sons and plague marines, but im not sure if I should use my paint scheme all over them, not using the main colors. or if I should paint a shoulderpad just to show their Allegiance to whatever god.

Any ideas of how you painted your warbands would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

I suggest painting them in their regular colors but give them a black shoulder or knee pad to represent the black legion. Maybe an eye or chaos star on the field of black.

Doesnt have to be black legion though, so just use any emblem you like for your own made up war band.

Yeah, they could simply have bartered their services for slaves/weapons/fun/whatever. But they are NOT part of your warband, just mercenaries and they are not about to repaint their armour for you.

Just in their regular colours, no need to tie them in with the rest of the army.

OR the opposite. they dont like each other, dont trust each other. But came together under the same Warboss. do them your scheme, emphasise like you said a shoulder pad or (example) the berserkers would have red gauntlets. Just a thought, im doing a all encompass night lords army, thats kinda what i was doing.
